New Delhi: Bunty Bains, a songwriter and singer from Punjab who was close to Siddhu Moosewala, barely escaped a fatal attack in Mohali. As per an India Today report, Bunty was present when the assassination attempt happened in a restaurant in Sector 79 of Mohali, Punjab. He did, however, manage to get away unscathed.


According to the report, after the attack, Bunty Bains also received a threat over the phone requesting a ransom of ₹1 crore.

Bunty reported the incident to the police, and an investigation is currently underway. The incident was captured on camera, and the clip featured windows with glass cracks and bullet holes in the timber frames.


According to reports, Bunty Bains received the threat from a person going by the name of Lucky Patial. There are rumours that this name is closely associated with the Bambiha and Lawrence Bishnoi gangs.


Bains spoke with India Today post the assasination attempt. He recounted the harrowing experience and shared that following the attack, he also received a threat extortion call asking him for Rs. 1 cr. A failure to comply with the same would result in death.


As per the same report, the threat purportedly came from Lucky Patial, a well-known mob figure thought to be based in Canada. Patial is well-known for his affiliations to the Bambiha and Lawrence Bishnoi gangs, which have been implicated in a number of illegal acts around Punjab.


According to the police, the shooting is still being looked into.


Numerous well-known Punjabi singers, like the late Sidhu Moose Wala, have acknowledged that Bains influenced their careers in some way. Infact, Moose Wala's affairs were handled by Bains' company during his lifetime.

In May of 2022, Sidhu Moosewala was shot and killed in Punjab's Mansa district by unknown gunmen. The news agency ANI said that he was taken to the hospital dead. The incident happened one day after the Punjab police had removed his security. In December of last year, Sidhu joined the Congress and ran a losing campaign in the Punjab assembly elections. Among many other hits, the singer-turned-politician was well-known for her songs 'So High', 'Same Beef', 'The Last Ride', 'Just Listen', and '295'.
