Shah Rukh Khan has been a movie star for over 30 years, and even before achieving stardom, he already knew the path to success. In a recent interview, actor Jaaved Jaaferi shared his experience working with Shah Rukh in the 1995 film 'Oh Darling Yeh Hai India'.

Jaaved noted that even then, SRK was clear on what he needed to do to become a star. Jaaved described him as an intelligent and wise person, and mentioned that they became quite close during the film's intensive shoot.

What SRK did to become a star

In a conversation with MensXP, Jaaved was asked about how contemporary actors don't seem to stand out in a crowd, unlike stars from previous generations who had a certain aura. Jaaved then shared an anecdote from his time with SRK, saying, "I did this film with Shah Rukh Khan called 'Oh Darling Yeh Hai India'. We got pretty close and we were shooting quite a lot. It was a pretty intensive shoot. He is a very intelligent guy."

"Of course, he is educated but he is also an intelligent guy. Really wise. He knew where he wanted to be. And he made a point, which I knew, but he just underlined it."

Jaaved went on to recall how Shah Rukh explained what it takes to be a star. "He said, you know, to be a star, you need a certain style. A thing that is your own. He got that. And if you notice, he stands out because he has got his own style. People may make fun of it but whatever…," he remembered.

Jaaved then demonstrated this by mimicking the distinct styles of Shatrughan Sinha, Dev Anand, Amitabh Bachchan, and Dharmendra, explaining that just a moment of mimicry makes it clear who they are. He then imitated Shah Rukh’s style and said, "He is the only one in this generation who is identified with a style. Other actors don’t have that."

Jaaved concluded by emphasizing that Shah Rukh understood this key aspect of being a star, which is why he stands apart. He added, "Salman is also a huge star. Aamir is a star but the style content I am talking about, that’s his style. He has got a trademark on it."
