New Delhi: Saira Banu has been quite vocal on social media as of late, sharing memories and previously unseen photos of her late husband. Banu fondly reminisces about her childhood days as a fan of both 'Sahib' Dilip Kumar and the lovely Vyjayanthimala, who she now fondly calls 'Akka'. The veteran actress remembers cutting out posters from magazines and pasting them on her wall. On the 65th anniversary of the movie 'Madhumati' the actress took to Instagram, posting a few pictures of age-old photos.

Saira wrote about her nostalgia for the cinema magazines she used to pick up. She said that in 1958 she was living in London and that she had poster cutouts of Dilip Kumar, Elvis Presley, James Dean, and Rock Hudson. One of her relatives had given her a magazine at the time.

A beautiful shot in a magazine from the film ‘Madhumati’ caught Saira Banu's eye. Dilip Kumar was seen with his face resting on Vyjayanthimala's in this beautiful photo.

Saira Banu described the tone of the picture as being "bold," and one of the movie stills has Dilip and Vyjayanthimala standing in close proximity to one another.

The star penned a lengthy piece in which she reflected on how she had experienced jealousy in the past.

She wrote, “It was a beautiful photo, and in my childishness, I got so jealous of Sahib’s proximity to her face that I took a pair of scissors and deftly started to snip away that portion of the photograph. Just imagine! I am hysterical with laughter when I recall this. Until then I had never seen her in any film and as fate would have it, I grew up to meet, admire, and associate with her as a member of my family. There are many interesting memories with her wherein I hold Akka in high esteem and shall narrate it one day.”

Saira Banu met and admired Vyjayanthimala throughout the years, and eventually built a close and loved relationship with her, like that of an older sister.
