New Delhi: Rashmika Mandanna, who is celebrating her 28th birthday today (April 5), is one of the most successful actresses in the country right now. The actress, who has given hits in almost all languages including Kannada, Telugu, and Hindi, is currently celebrating her birthday in UAE and there are speculations that her rumoured boyfriend and actor Vijay Deverakonda is also with her for her birthday. While Rashmika is said to be in a relationship with Vijay now, do you know that the actress was once engaged to Kannada actor Rakshit Shetty?
Rashmika and Rakshit Shetty's engagement
Rashmika started her acting career in 2016 with the Kannada film 'Kirik Party’ opposite Rakshit Shetty. The movie's success not only established her acting prowess but also her on-screen chemistry with Rakshit in the film blossomed into a real-life romance. The duo started dating and by July 2017, the couple took their relationship a step further and got engaged on July 3, 2017. At the time of their engagement, Rashmika Mandanna was 21 and Rakshit Shetty was 34. The 13-year age gap between the young Rashmika and the established Rakshit didn't seem to affect their equation.
Sadly, the love story took an unexpected turn in September 2018. News broke that Rashmika and Rakshit had called off their engagement. The reason behind the split remained undisclosed by the couple, leaving fans with unanswered questions. Speculations ranged from conflicting career priorities to incompatibility issues.
There were also reports that after the success of ‘Kirik Party’, Rashmika began to receive numerous film offers. She opted to prioritise her career, choosing to focus on her professional commitments rather than taking on the responsibilities associated with marital life.
Rashmika and Rakshit in talking terms
Despite the separation, both Rashmika and Rakshit continued to be on talking terms. Last year, Rakshit told Indian Express, “Me and Rashmika… we message each other once in a while. Not like a constant touch. But whenever my film releases, she wishes me, and I wish her whenever her film releases. On birthdays, we exchange wishes.”
He added, “She always had big dreams. She is achieving it. She should be given credit for that.”
Meanwhile, on the work front, Rashmika will next be seen in the much-anticipated ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ and ‘The Girlfriend’.
