New Delhi: Jagadeesh Prathap Bandari, who played Pushpa Raj’s friend Keshava in Pushpa: The Rise, has been arrested for allegedly abetting the suicide of a junior artiste.

According to the Times of India, Jagadeesh and the woman were in a relationship for some time and eventually parted ways. The actor allegedly blackmailed the woman by sharing her private pictures.

"A few days ago, Jagadish contacted her and shared their private photos with the victim and started to blackmail her, threatening to make them public. After her parents brought the information to our notice, we altered the section to abetment of suicide,'' cops were quoted as saying by Times of India.

The woman killed herself on November 29 and police started investigating and reached to Jagadeesh.

The actor was then booked under Section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the IPC and was arrested on Wednesday by the Panjagutta Police in Hyderabad. He was produced before the court and sent to police remand for 14 days.

Jagadeesh, who rose to fame with her role in Pushpa: The Rise, made his debut with the 2018 film Nirudyoga Natulu. He then worked in Mallesham, George Reddy, and Palasa 1978.

In Pushpa: The Rise Jagadeesh’s character Kesava is Pushpa Raj’s close friend.
