Priyanka Chopra's fans are upset with British TV host Andi Peters for mispronouncing her name during a visit to Madame Tussauds in London. The incident, which occurred in March, has resurfaced on social media, drawing significant backlash.

Andi Peters calls Priyanka Chopra 'Chianca'

Andi Peters was at the wax museum for a segment on 'Good Morning Britain', discussing the celebrities featured there. While speaking with anchors Adil Ray and Charlotte Hawkins from Madame Tussauds, Andi stumbled over Priyanka's name, referring to her as "Chianca Chop Free." This prompted Adil to correct him, saying, "Honestly, Andi. If you're going to stand next to somebody, at least work out what their name is. That's Priyanka Chopra, the Indian Bollywood actress who is now a massive star in America." Andi responded by claiming he knew who she was and mentioned her marriage to "that one from the Jonas Brothers," according to the Daily Star.

Netizens' reaction

Fans were unimpressed by the incident and took to the comment section of the post where the video was shared, "'Chianca Chop Free' is absolute madness," read a comment.

"Nah the amount of preparation people have before going live on TV is insane so I have no idea on how he missed this…," commented a user.

Another user wrote, "Someone needs to tell Andi Peters that at least Priyanka Chopra has earned her place in Madame Tussaud’s because he hasn’t." Another fan criticised Andi, saying, "I used to like Andi - not anymore! That was really rude, and it’s not that hard to say her name at all!"

Some fans speculated that the mispronunciation seemed "rehearsed", "This seems like they were deliberately doing this... looks so staged and rehearsed. MSM racism at its finest."

Meanwhile, Priyanka recently attended an event celebrating Bulgari's 140th anniversary in Rome, which also marked the unveiling of the brand's new high-end jewellery collection 'Aeterna.' For the event, Priyanka opted for a black and white off-shoulder gown Del Core, with the sleeves falling on her arms. She kept her hair short and wore Bulgari's most high-valued Serpenti necklace – the Serpenti Aeterna necklace, which boasts approximately 140 carats of diamonds.

Priyanka will next be seen in Ilya Naishuller's 'Heads of State' alongside Idris Elba and John Cena for Amazon Prime Video.
