New Delhi: A day after Poonam Pandey’s Instagram account posted about her death, the actor announced that she is alive by posting two videos on Instagram and shared that she took this step to spread awareness about cervical cancer. The actor also went live on Instagram and spoke in length about people’s reaction to her stunt and gave the reason of taking this step.
She said, “I did not make any money out of it. It was purely for a cause. Nobody was willing to take this campaign. I know it was extreme, I sincerely apologise. I am glad that since yesterday all I am reading about is cervical cancer. My message has reached right. Every person in India is aware about cervical cancer.”
“It’s a terrible feeling. I am shivering right now. My friends are very angry, and don’t know if they will even talk to me. My PR team had no clue where I was, I went underground,” she said on live.
In her Instagram video, Poonam said, “Hi everyone it's Poonam. I am sorry to those whom I have hurt. My intention is to shock everyone into the conversation that we are not talking enough about cervical cancer.”
“Yes, I faked my demise.”
She added: “Extreme I know. But suddenly we all are talking about cervical cancer. This disease silently takes your life and this disease needs the spotlight urgently. I am proud of what my death news has been able to achieve.”
In another video, she said that she is alive and spoke about cervical cancer awareness. She wrote in the caption, "
: “I feel compelled to share something significant with you all - I am here, alive. Cervical Cancer didn't claim me, but tragically, it has claimed the lives of thousands of women due to lack of knowledge on how to tackle this disease. Unlike some other cancers, Cervical Cancer is entirely preventable.”
“The key lies in the HPV vaccine and early detection tests. We have the means to ensure no one loses their life to this disease. Let's empower one another with critical awareness and ensure every woman is informed about the steps to take.”
“Together, let's strive to put an end to the devastating impact of the disease and bring #DeathToCervicalCancer.”
