New Delhi: Parineeti Chopra, who is gearing up to showcase her singing talent, faced criticism online for her performance at the trailer launch of Imtiaz Ali's forthcoming musical, "Amar Singh Chamkila," where she stars alongside Diljit Dosanjh. Singing a track in her native Punjabi language on stage, Parineeti's performance was met with mixed reactions, with some users expressing disappointment.
Netizens react to Parineeti's singing
On Instagram, one user commented, "Nice hidden talent...keep it hidden (skull emoji)." Another user humorously referenced Farida Khanum's classic song "Aaj Jaane Ki Zid Na Karo," writing, "Aaj gaane ki zidd na kro (teary-eyed laughter emoji)." Adding a touch of sarcasm, a third user remarked, "Best alarm tone for early wakeup." Meanwhile, a more direct criticism came from another user who simply stated, "One word for her singing: STOP."
Some observers pointed to Diljit Dosanjh's expressions during Parineeti's performance, suggesting they revealed the true sentiment. Comparisons were drawn to the singing of her cousin, actor and former Bigg Boss contestant Mannara Chopra. One user even went so far as to liken her singing to that of veteran music composer Anu Malik, albeit slightly better.
However, amidst the critiques, there were also voices of praise. One user acknowledged Parineeti's talent, noting, "Gati to sach me bht achha hai, par sach bolu aaj usne achha nahi gaya (She actually sings well, but honestly, didn't sing well today) (bow down emoji)." Another complimented her, stating, "Wow! Such an amazing voice. Even Diljit is stunned." And a third user simply remarked, "Acha gari h (she's singing well)."
