Mumtaz Condemns Zeenat Aman's Idea Of Live-In Relationships; 'She Knew Husband Mazhar Khan For Years, Her Married Life Was Living Hell'

In an interview, Mumtaz disagreed with Zeenat's stance, expressing skepticism about the success of live-in relationships leading to marriage.

New Delhi: Zeenat Aman has always been known for her unconventional approach, whether it's her appearance, her roles, or her views on relationships. The iconic star recently shared some advice on her Instagram, encouraging young couples to consider living together before tying the knot.

Zeenat Aman's post

She wrote a long note, a part of which reads as, "Here’s a personal opinion I haven’t previously shared - if you’re in a relationship, I strongly recommend that you LIVE TOGETHER before getting married! This is the same advice I’ve always given my sons, both of whom have had, or are in, a live-in relationship. It just seems logical to me that before two people get their families and the government involved in their equation, they first put their relationship to the ultimate test."

Mumtaz condemns Zeenat Aman's advocacy for live-in relationships

While Zeenat has been praised for her modern mindset, her former co-star Mumtaz holds a different perspective. In an interview with Zoom, Mumtaz disagreed with Zeenat's stance, expressing skepticism about the success of live-in relationships leading to marriage. "I don’t agree with Zeenat," she stated firmly. Mumtaz believes that even after living together, there's no guarantee of a successful marriage. “Kitna bhi live-in kar lo, kya guarantee hai (What is the assurance that even after living-in together your marriage will be a success)? Main toh kehti hoon, marriage hi nahin honi chahiye. What is the need to tie yourself down in this day and age? Why marry? For children? Arrey, go out there, find the man who appeals to you, and get his baby without physical intimacy. Zamana bahot aage chala gaya hai (the society had evolved).”

Mumtaz, who has been married for over forty years, acknowledges the challenges of marriage and believes that society isn't ready for the widespread acceptance of live-in relationships. She cautioned Zeenat against advising against traditional values, warning that it could lead to negative consequences.

Celina Jaitly supports Mumtaz

Celina Jaitly echoed Mumtaz's concerns, highlighting the potential pitfalls of live-in relationships without the commitment of marriage. She noted that living together might make it easier for couples to walk away from the relationship without putting in the effort to make it work.

In her post, Zeenat Aman acknowledged society's reservations about couples living together before marriage but urged people to challenge these norms and prioritize their own happiness over societal expectations.
