Mithun Chakraborty's Mother Shantirani Chakraborty Passes Away, Her Grandson Namashi Confirms
Mithun lost his father Basantokumar Chakraborty on April 21, 2020, and he died from kidney disease.
New Delhi: Actor Mithun Chakraborty's mother Shantirani Chakraborty passed away on Friday, July 7. Following the confirmation, condolences for the actor's loss came in.
Namashi Chakraborty, the actor's younger son, confirmed the news. "Yes, the news is true. Grandma is no longer with us,” he told Ananda Bazaar Patrika. The cause of Santirani's death has not yet been revealed.
Trinamool Congress spokesperson Kunal Ghosh shared a tweet and wrote, "Heartfelt condolences to Mithun Chakraborty on the death of his mother. I hope Mithun Da and his family can bear this deep grief."

“My parents never realised that I had finally become a Bollywood star. They never came to terms with the fact that their son is a popular film star, nor were they keen to find out. They were simple, orthodox people who led simple lives. My father was a supervisor at a government telephone exchange office, but he was a happy man with a happy family,” Mithun had said as quoted by Indian Express.
Mithun lost his father Basantokumar Chakraborty on April 21, 2020, and he died from kidney disease. According to reports, Basanta Kumar passed away after suffering age-related health problems. He was 95. Namashi Chakraborty also confirmed this unpleasant news.
After Mahaakshay Chakraborty, Dishani Chakraborty, and Ushmey Chakraborty, Nimashi Chakraborty is the youngest child. With 'Bad Boy', directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, Namashi made his Bollywood debut this year.
Mithun Chakraborty made his acting debut in the 1976 movie 'Mrigayaa'. He most recently appeared in 'The Kashmir Files' helmed by Vivek Agnihotri. In February 2022, he also made his OTT debut with the Amazon Prime Video series 'Bestseller'.
