Malaika Arora's father death: Malaika Arora and Amrita Arora’s father Anil Mehta, who died on Wednesday, had reportedly called both his stepdaughters before his death. Anil reportedly died by suicide after falling off from the sixth floor of his residence at Ayesha Manor in Bandra, Mumbai.
What Malaika's mother Joyce told police
According to reports, Malaika’s mother, Joyce Polycarp, who was in the flat at the time of the incident, has shared key details with the Mumbai Police. Joyce was in the house when the incident took place. Joyce noticed Anil's slippers in the living room, prompting her to search for him on the balcony. However, when she couldn’t find him, she leaned over the railing and saw a commotion below. The building's watchman was shouting for help, and that’s when she realised something terrible had happened.
Malaika's father called her and Amrita before his death
It has been reported that prior to the incident, Anil Arora made a phone call to both his daughters, Amrita and Malaika, saying, "I’m sick and tired," before allegedly taking the fatal step.
Anil fell from the sixth floor of his residence around 9:00 AM, while Malaika was en route to Pune for a professional commitment. His body has since been moved to Bhabha Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
What Mumbai police said about the death
The investigation is still ongoing, and the Mumbai Police are working to uncover more details surrounding the circumstances of his death.
"Anil Arora used to live on the sixth floor. We are carrying out a detailed investigation from all angles... our forensic teams are here for investigation. His body is being sent for postmortem. We are investigating everything... prima facie it looks like suicide, we are conducting further investigation,” Mumbai police told media.
Malaika's former husband, Arbaaz Khan, along with her rumoured ex-boyfriend, Arjun Kapoor, were seen outside his residence, offering support during this difficult time.
Malaika's statement on her father's death
Meanwhile, Malaika took to Instagram to share her statement requesting privacy in this difficult time. The statement read, “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear father, Anil Mehta. He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and our best friend. Our family is in deep shock by this loss, and we kindly request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult time. We appreciate your understanding, support, and respect.”
