Maheep Kapoor Recalls Meeting Sanjay Kapoor For One-Night Stand: 'I Met Him, Dead Drunk'

Maheep Kapoor met Sanjay Kapoor for one night stand
Appearing on Raunaq Rajani’s YouTube show, Maheep shared the quirky and unexpected start to her 30-year relationship. “Ours was quite simple. I just had a one-night stand with this man and I never knew I was going to get married to him. I gatecrashed his party, that’s where I met him, dead drunk,” she revealed, recounting the night their paths first crossed.
Their romance, which blossomed from a spontaneous encounter, skipped the conventional steps like formal proposals or grand gestures. Reflecting on how Sanjay proposed, or rather didn’t, Maheep said, “We didn’t have all this proposal and all. I am much older than you. We didn’t have Instagram. So, we didn’t give a shit. He just told me, ‘Look, we are getting married.’”
The conversation took a humorous turn when host Raunaq Rajani teased her, saying, “He just told you? You haven’t said no to him till now?” Maheep quipped back, “No. I wish he asked me again. Maybe I’d say, ‘No. Are you crazy? I am not doing this again.’”
How Sanjay proposed Maheep
Recounting their nightclub proposal at Colaba’s iconic 1900s, she painted a picture of a no-frills moment. “We were in 1900s, a night club in Colaba Taj. We were drunk. We were partying. He said, ‘Okay, we are getting married.’ So I said, ‘Okay, fine,’ in between my tequila shots. That was it. We didn’t do this proposing, getting down on our knees for Instagram, speech,” she said, laughing.
When asked about their relationship dynamic after three decades, Maheep offered a refreshingly honest perspective. When Raunaq cheekily asked if they still cuddle, she responded with her trademark wit, “Are you crazy? We have been married for 30 years, cuddling doesn’t exist. You simply go to sleep.”
Despite the lighthearted banter, Maheep spoke about the strong foundation of their bond, which began with five years of dating before marriage.
