New Delhi: 'Vikram' director Lokesh Kanagaraj  known for making quite many successful and acclaimed films will soon be taking a break. The filmmaker, who has directed 10 films, will quit his career. This shocking revelation by the 'Leo' director has come as a surprise to many fans. Recently, in an interview, Lokesh shared that he will quit films after doing 10 projects.


Lokesh Kanagaraj made the surprising announcement during a special event celebrating Tamil superstar Vijay's upcoming 49th birthday. "I don't have long-term plans. Or I don't have the desire to hold on to this place for a long time. I wanted to try my hand at movies. That's why I made short films. When I saw I was able to connect with it, I made that my profession," he said in an interview with SS Music channel.

'Leo' is currently being filmed. The movie went on floors in Kashmir earlier this year. The film was shot in the valley for about 50 days before the makers moved back to Chennai. The film is said to be wrapped around by the end of July after which post-production work will begin. The film is expected to arrive in cinemas on October 19.

'Leo' stars Vijay, Trisha, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun, Priya Anand, Mysskin, Sandy Master, Mathew Thomas, Gautham Vasudev Menon among others. As per reports, some influencers have also been roped in for special appearances in the film.


There has been a lot of talk around 'Leo' being a part of the cinematic universe that Lokesh has been trying to build. However, no confirmation has come in. Lokesh has on previous occasions spoken about how 'Leo' will be a unique film for Vijay's career.

Earlier, it was announced by Lokesh that filmmakers have planned big surprises on June 22 to make the birthday celebrations of the superstar. The 'Vikram' director shared that he announced the first single 'Naa Ready' from the music' album which will also be released on that day.


Produced by Seven Screen Studios, the music of 'Leo' has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander. 'Leo' is set to release on October 19, 2023.
