Actor, filmmaker, and politician Kangana Ranaut has expanded her horizons beyond cinema and politics by stepping into the hospitality industry. She announced the launch of her café, The Mountain Story on Wednesday, calling it one of the most significant projects of her life and an extension of her own personality.

Kangana took to social media to share the news, unveiling a video that beautifully highlights her deep connection to her Himachali roots. The actress, who hails from the picturesque state, proudly introduced her new venture, which is nestled in the serene lap of the Himalayas. 


In the video, Kangana Ranaut is seen arriving at the scenic location, surrounded by majestic, snow-covered peaks. As she steps inside, she is warmly greeted by her staff, who don traditional Himachali caps as a mark of local heritage. The camera then moves through the inviting interiors of the café, adorned with wooden furnishings, elegant lamps, and a fireplace that enhances the cosy, homely ambiance. 


In a voiceover, Kangana reveals that The Mountain Story is deeply personal to her, inspired by cherished childhood memories and the comforting aroma of home-cooked meals prepared by her mother. The video also offers a glimpse of an elaborate Himachali thali, featuring an array of authentic local dishes. The café’s outdoor seating area promises an unparalleled dining experience, set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Himalayas. 



Towards the end of the video, Kangana warmly invites viewers to experience The Mountain Story, before announcing that the café will officially open its doors on Valentine’s Day, February 14. 


Sharing her excitement, Kangana captioned the video: “A childhood dream comes alive, my little cafe in the lap of Himalayas. The Mountain Story, it’s a love story. #TheMountainStory Opening 14th February.”

Speaking about her latest endeavor, she expressed, “It is undoubtedly amongst the most special projects of my life, it is an extension of myself, something that is not only close to my heart but also my roots and I’m extremely proud of having the opportunity to offer an experience of the same through The Mountain Story.” 


With this move, Kangana joins the growing list of Bollywood celebrities who have ventured into the food and hospitality industry. Other stars who have opened their own restaurants include Malaika Arora, Amruta Arora Ladak, Karan Johar, Shilpa Shetty, Rakul Preet Singh, Sunny Leone, Dharmendra, Asha Bhosle, and Bobby Deol, among others. 




On the work front 


Meanwhile, Kangana was recently seen in her directorial venture ‘Emergency’, a historical biographical drama based on India’s Emergency period of the 1970s. She not only directed and co-produced the film but also played the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The movie, penned by Ritesh Shah, aims to offer an intense exploration of one of the most pivotal events in Indian political history. 


Looking ahead, Kangana has already begun working on her next project. She recently gave fans a sneak peek into the film’s production by sharing a behind-the-scenes picture from the set on Instagram Stories. The image featured a clapperboard with details of the shoot, hinting at an exciting project in the making. 


Interestingly, this upcoming film will reunite Kangana with actor R. Madhavan after nearly a decade. The duo was last seen together in Tanu Weds Manu Returns, a film that remains a fan favourite.
