New Delhi: Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut met Israel’s ambassador to India Naor Gilon on Wednesday. The actor took to Twitter and posted pictures and video of her meeting with the Israeli ambassador.
Posting the pictures, Kangana wrote, “My heart goes out to Israel. Our hearts are bleeding too. Here’s my conversation with Israel’s ambassador to Bharat Naor Gilon. @IsraelinIndia”
In another tweet she wrote in Hindi, “Had a very soulful meeting with Israel's ambassador to India Shri Naor Gilon ji. Today the whole world, especially Israel and India, are fighting war against terrorism. Yesterday when I reached Delhi for Ravana Dahan, I felt that I should come to Israel Embassy and meet the people who are defeating today's modern Ravana and terrorists like Hamas. The way small children and women are being targeted is heart-wrenching. I have full hope that Israel will be victorious in this war against terrorism. With him I discussed about my upcoming film Tejas and India's self-reliant fighter aircraft Tejas. @IsraelinIndia”.
The latest Israel-Palestine conflict was triggered by unprecedented attacks against Israel by Hamas militants on October 7, killing more than 1,400 people. Israel has launched a massive counter-offensive against the Islamic militant group that has ruled Gaza since 2007 killing over 5,000 Palestinians so far, including over 1,100 women, 2,000 children with more than 15,000 injured.
Earlier on Tuesday, Kangana set ablaze Ravana's effigy at Delhi's famed Lav Kush Ramlila at the Red Fort in New Delhi, becoming the first woman to do so in the 50-year history of the event.
Ranaut set the effigy of the demon king ablaze by shooting an arrow and chanted 'Jai Shri Ram'.
Scores of people, including a large number of women, had gathered at the venue to catch a glimpse of the actor.
"In the 50-year history of the event held annually at the Red Fort, this is the first time that a woman has set the Ravana effigy on fire," said Arjun Singh, president of Lav Kush Ramlila Committee of Delhi.
At the event, Ranaut also promoted her film "Tejas", which is set to release on October 27.
She said the film is based on the life of Indian soldiers and their tough life.
"This movie will show how our Indian soldiers protect us and do not think before sacrificing their lives," she said.
Written and directed by Sarvesh Mewara, "Tejas" features Ranaut in the role of an Indian Air Force pilot.
