New Delhi: It seems actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut’s political career will also be entangled in controversies like her acting journey. Kangana, who is campaigning for Lok Sabha polls from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, recently refuted claims of eating beef, reaffirming her commitment to a vegetarian lifestyle rooted in her identity as a 'proud Hindu'. The clarification came following the remarks by Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar at a rally where he mentioned that she had been granted a BJP ticket despite previously stating on social media that she consumed beef.

In a statement shared on her Twitter account, Kangana Ranaut addressed the claims, calling them baseless and aimed at tarnishing her image. Netizens, however, are not satisfied with the actor’s clarification and have taken out an old tweet by the actress where she had written that there is no harm in eating beef.

She wrote, “I don’t consume beef or any other kind of red meat, it is shameful that completely baseless rumours are being spread about me, I have been advocating and promoting yogic and Ayurvedic way of life for decades now such tactics won’t work to tarnish my image. My people know me and they know that I am a proud Hindu and nothing can ever mislead them, Jai Shri Ram.”

Internet users wasted no time responding to Kangana's post. Her 2019 post, which said, "There is nothing wrong with eating beef" was discovered by some social media users.

One user wrote, "No real Hindu will ever eat or endorse beef like you did" while another one wrote, "Liar! Explain how you were openly supporting beef a few years ago."

One person asked, "Kangana posting the tweet "I don't eat beef" and then goes to the iftar party to eat beef." One user said, "I am also bjp supporter..but what do you want to say about it...some years ago your thinking was different from today."

For the Lok Sabha elections 2024, Kangana Ranaut has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and been given a ticket to represent the Mandi seat in Himachal Pradesh.
