New Delhi: In Bollywood, the argument about nepotism never seems to stop. The daughter of legendary actor Anil Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja is also being called a "nepo kid". However, her credibility as an actress garnered a significant amount of respect. It's been 16 years since Sonam made her acting debut in the film 'Saawariya', directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Since then, she has done in a wide variety of roles.

Raanjhanaa (2013)


Raanjhanaa, directed by Anand L Rai, is a one-sided love story. And the film that changed Sonam’s career growth in Bollywood. "Acting in Raanjhaana has changed me in a fundamental way. Playing Zoya has made me more settled and calmer. She has heaviness in her heart and I identified with that. It's a complex character - Zoya is sad and that's in me. I love looking at something with a tinge of sadness. I have lived Zoya's life - cried, laughed and fallen in love with her." Sonam told DNA in 2013. 




Khoobsurat (2014) 


If you're looking for a happy, calming fairytale, this is the movie for you. It is a fairytale with a motivational objective and the perfect comedy flavour. This film is the official remake of Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s 1980 hit about an effervescent girl who enters a strict household and teaches everyone how to laugh and live life to the fullest. Sonam Kapoor was also awarded “Entertainer of the Year” by the High Fashion and Lifestyle Magazine for her performance in Khoobsurat. 




Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (2015)


Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, starring Sonam Kapoor and Salman Khan, was the highest-grossing Bollywood movie in 2015. Sooraj Barjatya’s directorial received a lot of admiration from everyone. The film marked Barjatya and Dabangg Khan’s fourth collaboration and was dubbed in several languages. 




Neerja (2016) 


Neerja, directed by Ram Madhvani, starred Sonam Kapoor as Neerja. Based on a true story, the thriller follows the life of an air hostess, who gave her life to save the passengers on the hijacked Pam Am 73. Sonam has been announced the Best Actress for her performance in the biopic, at the Indian Film Festival, Melbourne. 




Padman (2018) 


PadMan, directed by R Balki, is based on the life of Arunachalam Muruhanantham, who revolutionised the concept of sanitary pads b creating a low-cost machine. Soman Kapoor alongside Akshay Kumar did a fantastic job, the film earned Rs 74 crore at the box office, and won the National Award for Best Film on social issues. 




Delhi-6 (2009) 


This film directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is a story about Chandni Chowk, a neighbourhood of Delhi. Abhishek Bachchan co-starred in the film with Sonam Kapoor. Sonam plays Bittu, an aspiring Indian Idol whose traditionalist father refuses to allow her to pursue her aspirations.
