New Delhi: Divyanka Tripathi, renowned for her role in the iconic television series ‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’, has been a staple name in the Indian television industry for years. Despite her immense popularity, she's no stranger to facing negativity, especially online where she's been targeted by body shamers. In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Divyanka opened up about the constant criticism she receives regarding her body and how she copes with it.
Addressing the issue of body shaming, Divyanka candidly shared her experiences, stating, "This keeps happening to me. Body shaming is constant in my life because I have a certain body type."
She explained that due to her pear-shaped body, her upper and lower structures often appear disproportionate, inviting unwanted comments. “Even if I’m at my slimmest best, my lower half will look big, and then people will think ‘Oh, she’s fat from here’. So I face this in every phase,” she said.
Additionally, she prioritises her fitness regimen not just to maintain her physical well-being but also for her mental happiness. She said, “There was a time when I was very thin, and then people said, ‘You don’t look good now, you have become very thin. Only chubby cheeks used to suit you’. Now that I’m like this so they say, ‘Ohh, your weight is not reducing. I’m like relax guys, I’m into fitness now. I work out daily. I do it for my happiness. It gives me an adrenalin rush. It keeps my body agile.”
Divyanka has even taken the step of abandoning the use of weighing scales. She said, “I have stopped getting on the weighing scale. I block people who body shame me. I don’t think twice about it."
Looking ahead, Divyanka Tripathi is set to grace the screen once again in the upcoming SonyLIV series ‘Adrishyam – The Invisible Heroes,’ co-starring alongside Eijaz Khan.
