New Delhi: Urvashi Rautela made multiple appearances on the red carpet of the 67th Cannes Film Festival. She made her first outing on the red carpet wearing a pink tulle gown designed by Sima Couture with tiered layers of floral ruffles. What caught everyone’s attention was her Cartier neckpiece featuring two intertwined alligators. Her crocodile necklace led to a meme fest on the internet. A jewellery entrepreneur has claimed that the much-talked-about necklace is fake. She stated that the necklace was just a copy of the Cartier crocodile neckpiece and was not an original. 


A jewellery expert named Arundhati De-Sheth took to her Instagram stories and spoke about Urvashi’s neckpiece. In the first post, she shared a video of Urvashi talking about her crocodile jewellery. Arundhati wrote, "I am hugely confused by this look in general. However, all personal feelings aside, is she wearing the original @cartier Maria Felix crocodile necklace (sic)?!"  


Beneath the video, she wrote, "And, who is the maker of the earrings? Clarification desperately needed! Won't get sleep (sic)." 




In another post, Arundhati shared a picture of the original pieces and wrote, "Going to Cannes in France. Home of @cartier- Then wearing a poor shoddy sad ugly copy of a historic piece. Allegedly representing our nation and pretending to be wearing the real thing. When it's been hastily crafted in the back of beyond. Shameful @teamurvashirautelaofficial it seems you have not done any homework. We are a land of the most special treasures and jewels that she could have worn instead - this is blatant and so sad (sic)." 




Urvashi’s other look at Cannes 2023 that got everyone’s attention was at the screening of  'Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.' 


Urvashi wore a cream and blue gown and completed her look by wearing blue lip colour to match her gown. Her look reminded many of Aishwarya's purple lips at the Cannes red carpet a few years back. Netizens also compared her blue lips look with Joey's Ichiban ad from Friends. In Season 10 Episode 6 of the sitcom, Matt LeBlanc's character Joey Tribbiani sports blue lipstick for the advertisement for Ichiban lipstick for men. 


Urvashi Rautela was at the film festival as part of the photocall launch for her upcoming film - a biopic on Parveen Babi.
