New Delhi: Nagarjuna Akkineni returned as the show's host for ‘Bigg Boss Telugu season 7’, which premiered recently. Vijay Deverakonda attended the premiere to promote his newly released film ‘Kushi’, but the lead actress of the film, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, was noticeably absent. Nagarjuna was compelled to ask Vijay Deverakonda where his ex-daughter-in-law Samantha Ruth Prabhu was. This is the first time Nagarjuna has said the name of his son, Naga Chaitanya's ex-wife in front of the camera.
Samantha Rukh Prabhu was married to Naga Chaitanya, Nagarjuna's son, for four years. However, the couple took the divorce in 2021 without either party discussing the reasons for the breakup. Samantha and Naga released a joint statement shortly after their divorce, in which they expressed gratitude for the time they spent together and said they were ready to move on.
On Sunday night, Vijay was on the show to promote the new movie Kushi, which he co-starred in with Samantha. Not only did Vijay promote the movie with his words and actions, but he also lit up the stage. A clip from the episode has recently gained widespread online attention.
The video has actor Vijay Deverakonda made a slick entrance to promote his movie ‘Kushi’. However, it was Samantha's absence that drew attention. Nagarjuna Akkineni can be seen asking Vijay about his film’s actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu. To which, he replied, “She is in the US promoting the film and prioritising her health.” He also expressed his desire for Samantha to come to India for interviews and promotional activities.
Reports from the Indian Express quoted Nagarjuna praising Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. He said, "You [Vijay Deverakonda] are a fantastic actor. She [Samantha Ruth Prabhu] is a very good actress and you both together make for an amazing pair."
‘Kushi’ debuted in cinemas on September 1.
