New Delhi: Director Nitesh Tiwari's ambitious project, 'Ramayana,' is gaining momentum with the addition of renowned Bollywood actors to its cast. Recent reports from ETimes suggest that discussions are underway to cast Arun Govil as Raja Dashrath in the film. Govil's potential involvement adds a significant connection to the project, given his association with the timeless story.
Arun Govil, known for his iconic portrayal of Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar's 'Ramayan,' is being considered to play the pivotal character of Lord Ram's father, Raja Dashrath, in Nitesh Tiwari's rendition of the epic tale.
Earlier, there was speculation circulating that the film's producers had cast Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan as Dashrath.
Meanwhile, it was confirmed by Pinkvilla that Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi are set to portray Lord Ram and Sita, with Yash taking on the role of Raavan, and Sunny Deol portraying Lord Hanuman. Joining this illustrious ensemble, Lara Dutta has been announced to play Kaikeyi, while discussions are ongoing for Rakul Preet Singh to portray Shurpanakha.
Ranbir Kapoor to Adopt Minimalistic Look for Lord Ram
In preparation for his role as Lord Ram, Ranbir Kapoor recently underwent a meticulous look test. According to India Today, Kapoor's portrayal of Lord Ram will feature a minimalist aesthetic, with a focus on preserving his natural, lean physique.
Ranbir is also undergoing special diction and dialogue training under Nitesh Tiwari's guidance. A dedicated team has been assembled to refine the film's language and dialogue, ensuring authenticity in every aspect. Kapoor spends extensive hours rehearsing and sharing progress videos with the director, highlighting his commitment to bringing Lord Ram to life on screen.
The cinematic world of 'Ramayana' is being meticulously crafted with the assistance of the esteemed Oscar-winning VFX company DNEG. Production of the film is expected to begin in March 2024 with a deadline of Diwali 2025 for a release.
