Anil Kapoor Recalls Signing Films For Helping 'Friends In Need', Says 'Our Generation Was Such That We Would Do Some Films For Friends'

Anil Kapoor acknowledged that in the past, he and many other professionals in the field had a tendency to accept assignments simply out of a desire to support another performer who was struggling.

New Delhi: Since turning 60, Anil Kapoor has been busier than ever. The actor has appeared in a variety of recent films, including Fanney Khan, Total Dhamaal, AK vs. AK, and Thar. In an interview, he acknowledged that, despite his current efforts to take on something novel and distinctive, in the past, he and many other professionals in the field had a tendency to accept assignments simply out of a desire to support another performer who was struggling. He continued by saying that he anticipated reciprocation from others.

In the second installment of the Disney+ Hotstar series The Night Manager, the actor will reprise his position as dangerous arms dealer Shailendra Rungta. It is a remake of the same-named 2016 British television series, which was based on a book by John Le Carre. Aditya Roy Kapur, Sobhita Dhulipala, Tillotama Shome, Ravi Behl, and Saswata Chatterjee all appear in the series in addition to Anil. Beginning on June 30, 2023, the series' second installment will be streamed.

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, the veteran actor said, "Our generation was such that we would do [some films] for friends, for relatives, when people were not doing well, to a certain extent. If God has given you that opportunity and given you that position where you can be of some kind of a support to a person who you know is extremely talented but is going through a rough patch, so you stand by him [or] her, and you expect the same thing when you're going through a rough patch, that people will stand by you also."

The actor's most recent appearance was in 'Jugjugg Jeeyo', a Dharma Productions film starring Neetu Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, and Kiara Advani. In April, he took home the Best Supporting Actor honour at the Filmfare Awards. Alongside Ranbir Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and Rashmika Mandanna, he will also be seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga's 'Animal' later this year. He will work with Deepika Padukone and Hrithik Roshan on the Siddharth Anand-directed aerial action movie 'Fighter' next year.
