New Delhi: With 'Breaking Bad' coming in Hindi for the very first time on Zee Café from 28th August, the channel casted Badman Gulshan Grover as the late Hector Salamanca for its new promo, which is also a tribute to the actor playing the role, who passed away recently.
Zee Café created waves amongst TV loyalists with its mega announcement that it is bringing Breaking Bad to TV for the first time in Hindi. After the ‘Baap of all Shows’ was announced with an interesting promo that gave a desi twist to the lead character – Heisenberg, Badman Gulshan got riled up that he wasn’t considered to be a part of it. In a leaked video that went viral on social media, he was seen angrily asking his team to find out the location of the studio where they were dubbing for the show as he was having FOMO of not being a part of it. In fact, after finding out the location, he even barged into the shoot and asked the team - “Breaking Bad in Hindi without Badman - kaise?” He even tried to compel the director to cast him, but what happened next will leave you all stunned.
Zee Café brought on board India's OG Badman - Gulshan Grover - for a special promo for Breaking Bad – Hindi. While the channel was excited to have him on board, they did face a dilemma due to the unavailability of roles. But finally, after much deliberation, the team cast Gulshan Grover in the character of Hector Salmanca for the promo giving fans a chance to see him in a new avatar.
The promo sees Gulshan struggling to emote out his feelings as he plays the role of a paralyzed drug lord – Hector Salamanca and is seen just ringing the bell placed on the set.
Gulshan Grover mentioned, "There are a few shows that are remembered and watched across generations and Breaking Bad is one of them; it is a benchmark in TV shows and arguably the best TV show of all times. Since the first time I watched this show, I wished they would remake it in Hindi, and I could also star in it. While that didn't happen, when I heard Zee Café is finally bringing the show with Hindi dubbing, I knew I had to be a part of it in some way. They approached me for this special promo, and I had a wonderful time shooting for it. It’s a fun promo and I am sure the audience will also enjoy watching it as much as I did making it! I have said some of Walter’s most iconic lines in it in my own way and the whole experience got me excited all over again to watch this superb show!"
