In a shocking incident, Bangladeshi actress Raima Islam Shimu's dead body was found inside a sack on Monday at the outskirts of the capital city Dhaka. She was brutally murdered and after hours of rigorous grilling, her husband Shakhawat Ali Nobel has confessed to his involvement in the gruesome murder case. He has now been sent on a 3-day remand.
Earlier a Dhaka police statement revealed that the reason behind Shimu’s murder is probably a family feud and her husband confessed to the killing while he was being interrogated by local police.
Raima Islam Shimu, who was reported missing a few days ago, was found dead in the outskirts of Dhaka, police said. Her body was found inside a sack near the Hazratpur Bridge in Keraniganj on January 17.
The 45-year-old actress' body was sent to Sir Salimullah Medical College morgue for postmortem and Raima Shimu’s husband and his car driver were detained by the police for further interrogation related to the actress' death.
The autopsy report revealed several injury marks and the preliminary investigation suggested that the actress was murdered somewhere else and her body was later dumped near a bridge in Keraniganj.
The Keraniganj police had said that Shimu’s husband Nobel and one of his friends Abdullah Farhad have been taken into custody for further questioning.
In the meantime, several reports in Bangladeshi media are also suggesting that there might be an influential actor involved in this case, however police haven’t confirmed anything about it.
Raima Islam Shimu was a well known Bangladeshi actress who started acting in films from 1998 made her debut with the film "Bartaman" and has worked in more than 25 films. In addition to films, she also worked in TV dramas and produced as well.
She was also an associate member of the Bangladesh Film Artistes Association.
