Ayushmann Khurrana Slashes Signing Fee To Rs 15 Crore To Help Producers: Report
Ayushmann Khurrana outlined his cost structure for projects during the epidemic so that filmmakers involved would benefit.
New Delhi: In the midst of the epidemic, Ayushmann Khurrana has taken a monumental production-friendly decision. The actor, who takes a 25 crore advance payment for a movie role, has adjusted his fees related to the movie in a way that is beneficial to producers and does not burden the film up front.
A recent report says that Ayushmann has kept to his asking price of Rs 25 crore. However, he has adjusted it such that he would get Rs 15 crore as his signing fee and the remaining Rs 10 crore will be depending on his profit sharing from the film. This would be beneficial for both Ayushmann and the filmmakers if the film turned out to be a smashing success.
A trade source close disclosed to Pinkvilla, “Ayushmann is maintaining his price point of Rs 25 crore as signing fee but he has structured it differently during the pandemic to benefit producers. For films that he has signed during or right after the pandemic, Ayushmann has charged about 15 crore as a signing fee and the remaining 10 crore plus profit share is staggered basis the outcome of the film. This way, he ends up making more if the film is a blockbuster and his producers are also benefitted as the entire cost of Ayushmann doesn’t come to them while mounting a project!”
The source further said, “Such moves help the bigger picture as films need to be made in a cost-effective way across the board and when the film is a hit, the star can end up making more. It is a win-win for everyone.”
Ayushmann Khurrana is set to appear in a range of highly anticipated films in the near future. ‘Doctor G’, a comedy-drama set on a medical school campus, will be his next film. It also stars Rakul Preet Singh and Shefali Shah. Meanwhile, he is working on ‘Dream Girl 2’, in which he stars alongside Ananya Panday.
