New Delhi: Actors Ayushmann Khurrana and Aparshakti Khurana’s father and popular astrologer P Khurana passed away on Friday. The family shared an official statement about his demise.

It read, "It’s with our deep sadness to inform that Ayushmann and Aparshakti Khurana’s father, Astrologer P Khurana passed away this morning at 10:30am in Mohali, owing to a prolonged incurable ailment. We are indebted for all your prayers and support during this time of personal loss”.

According to reports, he was admitted to Fortis Hospital in Mohali, Punjab and was undergoing treatment for heart disease. His last rites will be performed at Manimajra cremation ground in Chandigarh at 5.30 pm on Friday.

Both Ayushmann and Aparshakti often posted pictures with their father. In an interview with Hindustan Times in 2020, the actor had said, "“I don’t believe in astrology, but my father has been my life coach and mentor. He always used to tell me ‘beta public ki nabz pakdo’ (Catch people’s pulse) and I just did that."

In a Father's Day post in 2021, Ayushmann had posted a picture of his father from his younger days along with a long note that read, "Bachpan mein papa ki lagayi paabandiyon ko todne mein bahut mazaa aata tha. Aur ab bade ho kar khud pe lagayi paabandiyaan todi nahi jaati.”

He continued, "We got it from him. The discipline. The love for music, poetry, films and art. He studied law but was always intrigued by astrology. He’s the reason behind the double Ns and double Rs in my name. At the same time he also taught us that we have the ability to carve out our own destiny and our good karma can supersede any soothsayer. My friend, philosopher and guide.
