New Delhi: The web series ‘Aashram’ starring Bobby Deol in the role of the protagonist is a crime drama directed by Prakash Jha. After Karni Sena’s objection to the content of the web series, ‘Aashram’ has landed into yet another legal trouble.

According to a report of ANI, a court in Jodhpur has filed a case against the web series and notice has been issued to the lead actor Bobby Deol and director Prakash Jha. The report read, “Rajasthan: Notice issued to actor Bobby Deol & Producer Prakash Jha by a Jodhpur court in a case filed against Ashram web series. Next hearing of the case on January 11.”

Earlier, Karni Sena also raised objections to the web series’ content and sent separate legal notices to the producer-director Prakash Jha and the OTT platform.

Karni Sena's General Secretary (Mumbai) Surjit Singh, while talking to ABP News, said, “The word ashram is a matter of faith for Hindus and the tradition of ashram in Hinduism holds a special significance. The things shown in the second season's trailer swill create an impression in the minds of people that misdeeds happen in all the ashrams across the country.”

He further added, “Prakash Jha should name the 'baba' on whom he has created the series. He should reveal about the ashram which has been depicted in his series. He cannot get away with it by calling the show a fictional story. We won't tolerate the attempt to discredit Hinduism and ashrams through the show.”

‘Aashram’ is apparently based on criminal Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. ‘Aashram’ tells the tales of the godman while mirroring reality.
