New Delhi: On Thursday night, Twitter removed the legacy verified blue ticks from all accounts that have not subscribed to it. Many celebrities woke up to missing blue tick on Twitter, including Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn and several other public figures.
Amitabh Bachchan, Vir Das, Nargis Fakhri, and many others celebs reacted to losing their verification on Twitter.
Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan, who is very active on Twitter wrote, " T 4623 - ए twitter भइया ! सुन रहे हैं ? अब तो पैसा भी भर दिये हैं हम ... तो उ जो नील कमल होत है ना, हमार नाम के आगे, उ तो वापस लगाय दें भैया , ताकि लोग जान जायें की हम ही हैं - Amitabh Bachchan .. हाथ तो जोड़ लिये रहे हम । अब का, गोड़वा जोड़े पड़ी का ?? (Hey Twitter! Are you listening? I have paid for the subscription service... so please put back the blue lotus in front of my name, so that people know that I am Amitabh Bachchan. I AM REQUESTING with folded hands... now should I fall in your feet?)"
In a series of tweets, Vir Das wrote, “"I like this world. To verify an artist, buy tickets, not ticks...Bye blue tick. I’m okay with someone impersonating me on twitter. You deal with the things they call me ..How about this? If you like what I’m saying…it’s the real me. If you’re pissed off/offended/looking to take action/going to complain to some sort of metaphorical papa…..this account belongs to an unverified impersonator. Cool?"
Actor Prakash Raj wrote, "Bye bye #BlueTick …. It was nice having you….my journey ..my conversations..my sharing…will continue with my people … you take care #justasking." Ravi Kishan also tweeted his response and wrote, "Why me ..???? Blue tick gone ????????????? Mr musk ????"
Nargis Fakhri posted, “I never really come on here. i just noticed I’m no longer verified with that blue thingy. So now everyone with a blue check pays a fee for it. Hmm okay. if anyone can buy it then what’s the point (sic).”
Sophie Chaudry tweeted, “Blue tick gone for @SrBachchan @sachin_rt @BeingSalmanKhan and many many more. Looks like I’m in esteemed company #bluetick #byebye (sic).”
Lyricisit and singer Swanand Kirkire wrote, “ब्लू टिक गयी ? "भला हुआ जो मेरी मटकी फूटी, ... मैं पनिया भरन से छूटी।।, मेरे सर से टली बला " बधाई हो !आप नैन समझोगे @elonmusk साहब . पैसे तो मैं नहीं दे रहा जो कल्लो !”
Many television celebrities like Rashami Desai, Kushal Tandon also reacted to losing their blue tick on the microblogging site.
Rashami wrote, “Just feeling amazing about everything about this morning IDK ! but... @elonmusk I love you.”
Actor Kavita Kaushik wrote, “Il be here tomorrow Freely Tangled up, Triggering a few, loving n loved by few, misunderstood by many n vibe with few but Mainly UNVERIFIED.”
Kushal Tandon tweeted, “Good morning to all the unverified humans here musk melon ki Jai jooooo.”
Twitter users with verified blue checkmarks are the ones paying for Twitter Blue - a monthly subscription of Rs 650-700.
