Telangana Elections 2023: Polling Picks Pace, Voter Turnout Of 20.64% Logged Till 11 AM
Till 11 am, a voter turnout of 20.64 per cent was recorded during Telangana polls.
A voter turnout of 20.64 per cent was logged till 11 am during the Telangana assembly polls on Thursday, according to the data by the Election Commission of India. Voting is underway at 35,655 polling stations on all 119 seats across the state with 3.26 crore registered voters.
2,990 candidates are in the fray including important leaders like Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, BRS MLA KT Rama Rao, state Congress President Revanth Reddy, and BJP Lok Sabha members Bandi Sanjay Kumar and D Arvind.
As of 9 am, the state recorded a voter turnout of 8.52 per cent.
All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi urged the people of the state to come out and vote stressing to increase voting percentage in urban cities.
"I urge the people of Telangana to exercise their vote to create more confidence in the Constitution, to strengthen the democracy and to ensure that development and communal harmony in the state continues," he said.
"It is high time that polling percentage rises in urban cities including Hyderabad in the state," said the Hyderabad MP.
Voting began on all 119 constituencies at 7 am and will continue till 5 pm, though on 13 seat affected with Left Wing Extremism, the polling will conclude at 4 pm.
