Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday stated that he wants to put a stop to intolerance in the country and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi must be defeated at the Centre to do so. He accused the RSS, Modi, and "hardliners" of spreading enmity throughout the country while speaking at an electoral rally in Nampally, news agency PTI reported. During his Bharat Jodo Yatra, Congress devised the phrase "establishing a'mohabbat ki dukaan' (shop of love) in the 'nafrat ke bazaar' (market of hatred")," he said, adding that while he opposes Modi, 24 lawsuits have been brought against him in various states – and the courts call him on a regular basis.
"First time, for defamation, I got two years' punishment. My Lok Sabha membership was cancelled. My government house was taken away. I said I don't want it. My home is in the hearts of the crores of poor people in the country," he was quoted by PTI in its report.
"They are a single team. Here, BRS, BJP and AIMIM work together as a team. The Chief Minister (KCR) has no cases against him. He runs the most corrupt govt. ED, CBI, Income Tax department are not behind them," he added.
An MP-MLA court in Uttar Pradesh summoned Gandhi on Monday in a defamation case filed in 2018 for alleged "objectionable" statements he made against Union Minister Amit Shah.
In his statement at the Nampally rally, Rahul Gandhi made no mention of the UP court summons him.
"The fight is ideological and I cannot compromise on it," Gandhi said.
He questioned how many complaints were filed against AIMIM head Asaduddin Owaisi.
Gandhi inquired whether any agency is behind Owaisi, claiming that the ED and CBI are always behind him.
The subject of why there is no prosecution against Owaisi is raised, and the explanation is because the AIMIM president aids Modi, according to him.
He further accused AIMIM of fielding candidates in order to harm the Congress and benefit the BJP in several states.
Rahul Gandhi stated, "My goal is to eradicate hatred in the country, and in order to do so, Modi must be defeated in Delhi."
If Modi is to be defeated in Delhi, he believes BRS President and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao must first be defeated in Telangana.
He said that the BRS, BJP, and AIMIM are all working together, and noted that the BRS has backed the Modi government in Parliament.
He also wanted to know whether there were any cases filed against KCR. "He (KCR) runs the most corrupt government," he said.
