Ever since the exit polls have been announced, projecting a clear victory for the NDA, the opposition alliance lambasted the predictions, calling them "bogus", "Modi's fantasy", and even an "orchestrated plan". Amid this controversy, senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi has now claimed that the I.N.D.I.A bloc is "very hopeful" that their results "are completely the opposite to what the exit polls are showing."

"We have to wait. Just wait and see," Sonia Gandhi told news agency PTI.

Sonia Gandhi's remarks come a day after her son and Wayand MP Rahul Gandhi referred to a song by late singer Sidhu Moosewala, to predict that the actual number of seats that the bloc will win are 295, as opposed to the 152-182 seats projected by the exit polls.

According to ABP's CVoter exit poll, the NDA is projected to win 353 to 383 seats.

The India Today-Axis My India poll suggest that the BJP-led NDA would win 379 seats and end up achieving the '400 paas' mark. The I.N.D.I.A bloc, with the Congress as the main constituent, is projected to win 136 seats in the Lok Sabha elections 2024.

The opposition alliance, seemingly unhappy with the exit polls "rejected" them and accused them of being an attempt to justify the poll rigging. The bloc called it a psyhiclogical warfare aimed at demoralising the INDI alliance.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who surrendered in the Tihar jail on  June 2, lambasted the exit polls, saying "all exit polls are fake. The issue is why they needed to conduct a fake exit poll three days before the counting."

The exit polls were announced after the voting concluded on June 1. The Lok Sabha elections results is scheduled to be out on June 4.
