New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led alliance in Punjab on Saturday presented its formal manifesto, or sankalp patra, for the upcoming Punjab assembly elections 2022, which are slated for February 20.

In the presence of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister and Hoshiarpur MP Som Prakash, and other top BJP officials, the party released the sankalp patra in Jalandhar, ANI reported.

“Punjab is a very sensitive border state and it is important for the state to have people in power who themselves are stable," Union Minister Puri was quoted by ANI on its official Twitter handle.

In Punjab, the BJP is running in an alliance with former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh's Punjab Lok Congress (PLC) and Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa's Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt) in the Assembly elections.

On February 8, the BJP and its partners produced a similar document in which they pledged to completely cancel the debts of all farmers in the state with less than five acres of land if the coalition gets elected.

Furthermore, the party pledged 'Mehnat Da Pakka Mull,' which will ensure the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers farming fruits, vegetables, pulses, and oilseeds as part of the Central Government's MSP extension programme.

The coalition has promised an annual budget of Rs 5,000 crore for agriculture in order to preserve crop variety and make it more profitable.

The allies issued 11 resolutions, including one that pledged Rs 5 lakh in incentives to families affected by terrorism.

The memo stated that if the alliance government is elected, it will establish a special task force to investigate sacrilege occurrences and will expedite legal proceedings in such instances.
