Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Madhya Pradesh on June 27 where he will flag off the Jabalpur-Indore Vande Bharat Express train and will virtually address BJP leaders, and workers across 10 lakh booths in the country from Bhopal. As the central Indian state is due to undergo polls this year, political leaders have started visiting the state in a bid to woo the voters. Modi will kick off the campaign in the state with his visit later this month.


He will first visit Dhar where he is slated to attend an event on sickle cell anaemia after which he will reach Bhopal where he will flag off the Vande Bharat train. 


Elections to the 116-member Madhya Pradesh Assembly are due this year.

On Monday, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi visited Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur where she offered prayers at Narmada river and participated in the aarti as well and addressed a gathering. 


The Congress General Secretary garlanded the statue of Gond Rani Veerangana Rani Durgavati after Narmada Pujan in a bid to woo the tribal voters of the state. After garlanding the life-size statue of Durgavati in Bhanvartal Park, she met with the people of the tribal community.


On Tuesday, former MP minister Akhand Pratap Singh Yadav joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the presence of party MP Sanjay Singh and other leaders, as per a PTI report.

He was a member of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly thrice and served as a minister in the state during the Congress and BJP regimes.


Yadav was first elected to the Madhya Pradesh Assembly in 1977 and then in 1993 and 2003.


"By joining AAP, Akhand Pratap Singh Yadav has strengthened our presence in Madhya Pradesh... Together we will forge ahead with renewed vigour and determination, ensuring the Aam Aadmi Party's success in Madhya Pradesh and beyond," AAP MP Sanjay Singh said at the press conference.
