New Delhi: Following the split of the BJP-JJP alliance in Haryana, the Ajay Chautala-led party has announced its decision to contest all 10 Lok Sabha seats in the state independently.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the Jannayak Janata Party's political affairs committee (PAC) held in Delhi, where various aspects concerning the upcoming Lok Sabha elections were discussed, the party said in a statement.

Under the leadership of JJP national president Ajay Singh Chautala, the PAC meeting in Delhi discussed names of potential candidates for each Lok Sabha constituency in Haryana. Additionally, there were suggestions to explore the feasibility of contesting the Lok Sabha seat of Chandigarh.

It was suggested by some members in the meeting that apart from Haryana, the party should also explore the possibility of contesting elections on the Lok Sabha seat of Chandigarh, the statement said.

The PAC evaluated probable candidates for all 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana and evaluated them on various parameters. The elections for these seats are scheduled for May 25 as part of the sixth phase of the general elections, and the BJP has already announced its candidates.

During the PAC meeting, there was a proposal to contest the parliamentary seat of Chandigarh as well, prompting the party leadership to consider the possibilities. Notable figures such as former Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala and JJP state president Nishan Singh participated in the meeting.

Ajay Chautala had previously stated that his party had requested two Lok Sabha seats in Haryana for the general elections, but the BJP declined the request.

This announcement came after the BJP-JJP alliance ended in Haryana, leading to the appointment of Nayab Singh Saini as the new chief minister in place of Manohar Lal Khattar.
