The Election Commission of India declared on Saturday a repoll will take place in one of the polling stations in the Hanur Assembly Constituency of Chamrajnagar Parliamentary Constituency on Monday (April 29). This decision came after the vandalism of a polling booth in Indiganatta village of Chamarajanagar Lok Sabha constituency by villagers who also boycotted voting.














The decision to take action was prompted by reports from the Returning Officer and General Observer for the 22-Chamrajanagar Parliamentary Constituency. Specifically, it pertains to polling station no. 146 at Government Lower Primary School, Indiganatha, within the 221-Hanur Assembly Constituency of the 21-Chamarajanagar Parliamentary Constituency, situated in Chamarajanagar district.














The fresh polling will reportedly take place from 7 AM to 6 PM on Monday.














According to ANI, Re-poll will be conducted for one polling station in Hanur Assembly Constituency of Chamrajnagar Parliamentary Constituency on April 29, Monday. The decision was taken after a polling booth was vandalized in Indiganatta village of Chamarajanagar loksabha constituency by the villagers who had boycotted voting.

Under Mendare and Indiganatha village limits, there are over 520 voters and the villagers threatened to boycott the polls due to alleged lack of amenities provided by the state.

On Friday, the polling in the Chamarajanagar Lok Sabha constituency (reserved) proceeded briskly and peacefully, except for an occurrence of poll boycott and the ransacking of a polling booth in Hanur taluk.


The next phase of elections in Karnataka is scheduled on May 7. Congress and BJP-JD(S) are facing off in the state.
