Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday lauded the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate, Madhavi Latha, who will take on against All India Majlis-e-Itthadul Muslimeen chief and sitting MP Asaduddin Owaisi in his hometurf of Hyderabad. Modi took to social media platform, X to praise Latha for her television interview where she predicted that her political rival, Owaisi will lose the Lok Sabha polls with a margin on 1,50,000 votes.

"Madhavi Latha Ji, your ‘Aap Ki Adalat’ episode is exceptional. You’ve made very solid points and also done so with logic and passion. My best wishes to you," Modi said in his post.

Who Is Madhavi Latha

Kompella Madhavi Latha, 49, is a professional Bharatanatyam dancer who is also a businesswoman and a philanthropist and is the chairman of city-based Virinchi Hospitals.

Latha has never been active in politics but several factors led to the saffron party picking her as its candidate from Hyderabad.

In a bid to tap the Muslim votes, the BJP gave the ticket to Latha as she is said to be active in philanthropic activities in parts of the old city, as per an IANS report.

She is known for her pro-Hindutva speeches who also campaigned against triple talaq, the IANS report stated, adding that she is said to be in touch with various Muslim women groups.

The BJP candidate is a trustee of Lathamma Foundation and Lopamudra Charitable Trust and also runs a small fund for destitute Muslim women. She also runs a gaushala.

Anticipating a BJP ticket for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, she already started meeting women in some parts of the old city. Last month, she posted her photographs on social media distributing ration among burka-clad women. The programme was organised under the aegis of Lathama Foundation, according to the IANS report.
