The Election Commission on Saturday said it was "deeply humbled" by the voters who made it to polling stations overcoming many challenges and dilemmas they might have.
The Commission's remarks came after the votes were cast for the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha elections which were announced on March 16. The first phase was held on April 19.
"Indian voters have given their most cherished right to vote for the constitution of the 18th Lok Sabha. Indian democracy and Indian elections have again done the magic. The great Indian voters, irrespective of their caste, creed, religion, socio-economic and educational background have done it once again," the poll watchdog said in a statement.

Senior leaders of the INDIA bloc met here on Saturday to discuss their strategy for the counting of votes on June 4, even as the TMC and PDP skipped the meeting.
Senior leaders of the Congress, Samajwadi Party, CPI-M, CPI, DMK, JMM, AAP, RJD, Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (Sharad Pawar) met at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge's residence on Saturday afternoon and held discussions, even as the last phase of polling was underway.
TMC chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had already said they would not attend the meeting as there were elections in the state, while PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti did not attend the meeting due to personal reasons.
"I may not go as my mom has undergone an eye surgery," she had told PTI.
Opposition leaders who attended the meeting included Sharad Pawar, Akhilesh Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav, Anil Desai, Sitaram Yechury, Arvind Kejriwal, Bhagwat Mann, Sanjay Singh and Raghav Chadha, Champai Soren, Kalpana Soren, T R Baalu, Farooq Abdullah, D Raja and Mukesh Sahani.
Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and K C Venugopal were also present at the meeting. (PTI Input)

Uttar Pradesh recorded a polling percentage of 39.31 till 1 pm as voting for the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha election began at 7 am on Saturday, the Election Commission (EC) said.
Polling is being held in 13 constituencies of the state, including Varanasi, from where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is seeking a third consecutive term in the Lok Sabha.
Besides Varanasi, the other seats where polling is taking place are Maharajganj, Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, Deoria, Bansgaon (reserved for Scheduled Castes), Ghosi, Salempur, Ballia, Ghazipur, Chandauli, Mirzapur and Robertsganj (reserved for SCs).
A total of 144 candidates -- 134 men and 10 women -- are in the fray.
According to the EC, the polling percentage till 1 pm is -- Ballia 38.04, Bansgaon 37.74, Chandauli 42.17, Deoria 39.44, Ghazipur 38.75, Ghosi 38.30, Gorakhpur 37.39, Kushinagar 40.22, Maharajganj 42.29, Mirzapur 41.55, Robertsganj 38.44, Salempur 37.49 and Varanasi 39.25.

Family members of an eighty-year-old Bihar woman, who died on Saturday, preferred to first cast their vote and then perform her last rites.
The incident occurred during the last phase of polling at Devkuli village in Jehanabad Lok Sabha constituency.
"My mother died today. She will not come back. Cremation can wait, but not the election. The election will come after five years. Therefore, we (family members) discussed the matter and decided to perform the last rites of our mother after casting our votes," Mithilesh Yadav, son of the deceased, told reporters.
They exercised their franchise at polling booth number 115 and went to perform the last rites of their mother.
Voting is also underway in eight Lok Sabha constituencies in Bihar in the seventh and final phase. These seats are Patna Sahib, Patliputra, Arrah, Karakat, Jehanabad, Buxar, Nalanda and Jehanabad. (PTI Input)

A stringer associated with ANI, Bunty Mukherjee suffered a severe head injury when a stone pelting occurred in a clash between TMC and BJP workers in Canning, under Jaynagar Lok Sabha constituency of West Bengal. The stringer was covering the last phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 today. He has been referred to Medica Superspecialty Hospital in Kolkata for treatment, as reported by ANI.

At least 10 people sustained injuries in alleged clashes between supporters of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Indian Secular Front (ISF) at Bhangar in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal on Friday, police said, as reported by the Indian Express. Seven people were arrested in connection with the clashes, they further stated. Crude bombs were recovered from the area, police said.

TMC has been accused of attacking supporters of ISF and CPIM workers in the Satulia area of Bhangar, which falls under the Jadavpur Lok Sabha constituency. Several ISF personnel and supporters were reportedly injured in the incident. The sound of bombs was heard. Live bombs were lying on the spot.

Fifty-seven constituencies spread across seven states and the Union territory of Chandigarh are set to vote in the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha elections on Saturday.

Over 10.06 crore citizens, comprising nearly 5.24 crore men, 4.82 crore women, and 3,574 third gender electors, are eligible to cast their votes in this final phase. Saturday's voting will culminate the extensive polling process that commenced on April 19, covering 486 Lok Sabha seats across 28 states and Union territories, including the assemblies of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sikkim.
Vote counting will commence on June 4. Following Election Commission guidelines, television channels and news outlets will be permitted to broadcast exit poll data and results on June 1 after 6:30 pm. Polling parties have been dispatched to their respective stations, equipped with necessary machinery and materials.
At the 1.09 lakh polling stations, facilities like shade, drinking water, ramps, and toilets have been arranged to ensure a comfortable and secure voting environment. The ECI has instructed CEOs and state machineries to prepare for adverse weather conditions, such as hot weather or rainfall.
