On ECI banning former Telangana CM and BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao from campaigning for 48 hours, BRS working president KT Rama Rao says, "The ban on our party president KCR, basically where he spoke emotionally on the issues of farmers and the weavers committing suicide in Telangana and where he accused the government of not doing enough and being an inept government. It has unfortunately attracted the wrath of Election Commission of India. But this seems truly extraordinary & unfair. The PM of India goes on unabated, trying to cause disharmony among religions, cause irreparable damage to the social fabric of the country but there is no action on him...Likewise, Telangana CM who has been using foul language and has been a motormouth, not a single action on him even though we have lodged more than 28 complaints to the Election Commission. Uttar Pradesh: Addressing a public rally in Sitapur, Union Home Minister Amit Shah says, "Till the BJP workers are alive, we will not let anyone take away the reservation of backwards classes and give it away to Muslims... Congress has given a provision of 15% reservation in jobs for Muslims, they want to divide India into North and South India, they want to hold talks with terrorists, they want to revoke Article 370, and they want to bring back triple talaq."

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleging that he will end reservations if came to power because there will be no government jobs left.
"The BJP government is secretly snatching away reservation from Dalits, tribals and backward classes by eliminating government jobs through 'blind privatisation,' the Congress leader charged.
Lok Janshkti Party National President and party candidate from Hajipur, Chirag Paswan will file his nomination for the Lok Sabha elections today. Ahead of filing his papers, Paswan said, "This is the first time in my life that I am going to file nomination without my father. Be it the 2014 election or the 2019 election, he was always with me."
"I am going to seek blessings from the people of Hajipur and I have full faith that just as the people of Hajipur showered their love and blessings on my father, I will also get the same love and blessings...," he added.
The Election Commission has served a notice to Karnataka Congress MLA Raju Kage for his alleged controversial statement during an election campaign on April 30. During his speech in Madabavi Gram Panchayat, the Congress MLA allegedly threatened the voters in the Jugulato region to cut electricity if they didn't vote for the party by a huge margin.

The Election Commission has extended polling hours in various assembly segments of Telangana for the Lok Sabha elections scheduled on May 13 in view of the prevailing of hot summer and heat wave in the state. Lok Sabha elections are set to be held across India in seven phases between April 19 to June 1. The counting of votes will take place on June 4.
Sixteen more candidates, including Bharatiya Janata Party's Manoj Tiwari and Harsh Malhotra, filed their nomination papers on Wednesday for the elections to the seven Lok Sabha seats in the national capital. Voting will be held in the national capital on May 25 in the sixth phase of the seven-phase Lok Sabha polls.
According to Delhi Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), forty-two candidates have filed their nomination papers since the process for it started on Monday. The last date of filing nomination in Delhi is May 6. While Tiwari filed his nomination for contesting the North East Delhi seat, Malhotra submitted his papers for the East Delhi seat as the party's candidate. He won the North East Delhi seat for the BJP in 2014 and 2019, declared his income to be Rs 46.25 lakh in his income tax returned filed for 2022-23. He stated that his source of income are singing and acting, and as an MP.
The Delhi CEO encouraged voters to go through the election affidavits of candidates, uploaded on the official website, for information about them. Scrutiny of the filed nomination papers will be held on May 7 while the last date to withdraw names in May 9.
Delhi has 1.51 crore eligible voters, including 81.63 lakh men, 69.37 lakh women and 1,215 people from the third gender. Voting will take place in more than 13,000 polling booths across the city.
The BJP candidate from West Delhi Kamaljeet Sehrawat will file her nomination papers on Thursday. The poll contest in Delhi is between the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party-Congress alliance. The saffron party has won all seven seats two times in a row -- 2014 and 2019 -- and seeks to repeat the clean sweep this time too.
While the AAP is contesting the South Delhi, East Delhi, West Delhi and the New Delhi seats, its partner in the INDIA bloc, Congress, has announced candidates on North East, North West and Chandni Chowk seats. AAP's South Delhi seat nominee Sahi Ram is the only INDIA bloc candidate who has filed his nomination papers.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday urged the voters of Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency to elect BJP candidate K Madhavi Latha and "liberate" the seat from "Razakars". The former BJP chief campaigned for the saffron party candidate in Hyderabad LS segment on Wednesday night. "Since 40 years, the representative of 'Razakar' had gone and sat there (Parliament)," he said, in a reference to AIMIM.
AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi is seeking re-election from the Hyderabad constituency in the present Lok Sabha polls. There is no need for anyone to be scared and that every voter, whether Hindu or Muslim, should vote for the lotus symbol and work to join Hyderabad with the mainstream, he added. Polling for the 17 LS seats in Telangana would be held on May 13.
