Bahujan Samaj Party released its first list of 16 candidates on Sunday for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. In the first list, the party has announced candidates from mainly the western part of Uttar Pradesh.

Majid Ali has been given a party ticket from Saharanpur, Shripal Singh from Kairana, and Dara Singh Prajapati from Muzaffarnagar. Vijendra Singh has been fielded from Bijnaur, Surendra Pal Singh from Nagina (SC), and Mohammad Irfan Saifi from Moradabad.

In Rampur, Zeeshan Khan will contest on BSP's ticket, Shaulat Ali from Sambhal, Mujahid Hussain from Amroha, and Devvratt Tyagi from Meerut.

The party has nominated Praveen Bansal to contest from Baghpat, Rajendra Singh Solanki from Gautam Buddh Nagar, Girish Chandra Jatav from Bulandshahr (SC), Abid Ali from Aonla, Anis Ahmad Khan from Pilibhit, and Dodaram Verma from Shahjahanpur (SC).

In January this year, the BSP supremo had said that the party won't join any alliance and will contest the polls on its own. She also attacked Akhilesh Yadav with who's party she contested the 2019 polls in a alliance.

"I want to clarify that our party (BSP) will go solo in the upcoming (2024) Lok Sabha polls," she had said.

Earlier this month, she dismissed the rumours about her party forging an alliance in UP with other parties for the upcoming polls saying that it was nothing but "fake news".

Her clarification came after several media reports claimed that the former UP Chief Minister's party could join hands with I.N.D.I.A bloc members, Congress and Samajwadi Party. However, she has been consistently denying the speculations surrounding the alliance.

She has stated on multiple occasions that she would not go into alliance with any camp for the Lok Sabha polls.
