'Slanderous...': Objections Raised By Delhi Poll Panel To AAP's 'Jail Ka Jawab' LS Poll Campaign Song
Delhi poll panel raised objection to AAP's campaign song saying it is slanderous to the police and ruling party.
The Delhi Chief Electoral Officer on Saturday raised objection to a campaign song released by the Aam Aadmi Party ahead of the Lok Sabha polls asking the party to modify the contents of the creative. The Delhi CEO said that the campaign song titled 'jail ka jawab vote se' violates Election Commission's guidelines and advertising codes.
The over two-minute campaign song released at the party headquarters in the national capital on Thursday, has been penned and sung by party MLA Dilip Pandey.
In its notice, the Delhi CEO said that the advertisement has been returned "with request to modify the contents of the creative as per the Advertising Codes prescribed under the Cable Television Network Rules, 1994 and ECI guideline/norms." It asked the party to resubmit the advertisement after modification for the certification.
Objections Raised By EC
- The EC pointed out that "jail ke jawab me hum vote denge" with "aggressive mob" holding the photo of Arvind Kejriwal showing him behind the bars "casts aspersion on Judiciary". It also said that the phrase appears several times in the song "which contravenes the provisions of ECI Guidelines dated 24.08.2023 and Rule 6(1)(g) of Programme and Advertising Codes prescribed under the Cable Television Network Rules, 1994."
- The Delhi CEO also raised objection to the phrase "tanashahi party ko hum chot denge" with visuals of protestors and police clash saying it apparently "incites violence".
- On the phrase "gunda gardi ke khilaf vote denge & Tanashahi karne wali party ko hum chot denge", the poll panel said: "The clip tends to present the picture of police in bad taste. It thus casts aspersions on the working and defamatory and slanderous remarks for the police."
- The poll panel flagged the phrase "Awazein khilaf thi jo sabko jail me daal dia, bas unko hi bahar rakha jisne inko maal dia. Itna lalach, itna nafrat, bhrastachari se mohabbat" saying it showed "slanderous remarks" and a criticism of the ruling party on the basis of unverified facts and also casts aspersion on the judiciary.
- Quoting phrase "Gundo wali party chodo" from the song, Delhi CEO said it presents "slanderous remarks addressed to the other party and their leader" as party symbols appeared with the said phrase in the video.
- The phrase "Tanashahi party ko hum chot denge" with the clip showing aggressive mob clashing with the police shows criticism of the ruling party on the basis of unverified facts, it added.
- The notice further said that the phrase "jail ka jawab hum vote se denge" from 01:49 to 1:50 is missing from the transcript submitted by the party.
- The Delih CEO also said that the phrases "Jail ka jawaab hum vote se denge", "gunda gardi ke khilaf vote denge & Tanashahi karne wali party ko hum chot denge" wherever appearing in the advertisement contravenes the provisions of para 2.5 (d) of ECI Guidelines dated 24.08.2023 and rule 6(1)(g) of Programme and Advertising Codes prescribed under the Cable Television Network Rules, 1994.
