Rohini Acharya, Lalu Prasad Yadav's daughter who is an RJD nominee from Saran Lok Sabha constituency, lost to her nearest rival and BJP candidate Rajiv Pratap Rudy by a margin of 13,661 votes.

Rudy, who is a two-term MP, headed for a third term as the Parliamentarian from the Saran seat, which was formed in 2008 after being carved out from Chhapra.

While Rajiv Rudy got 4,71,752 votes, Rohini Acharya got 4,58,091 votes. Polling was held for those seats in seven phases between April 19 and June 1.

Meanwhile, Misa Bharti, RJD candidate and the other daughter of Lalu Prasad, is leading by 35,437 votes over her nearest rival, Ram Kripal Yadav of BJP, in Patliputra Lok Sabha constituency.

Voting in the Saran seat was held in the seat on May 20, in the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections.

Rohini Acharya, who holds an MBBS degree and lived in Singapore until RJD announced her candidature, shot to prominence when she donated one of her kidneys to her father Lalu Prasad Yadav in 2022.

The Saran seat in the western part of Bihar was won by Lalu Prasad Yadav in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections. Prior to that, when Saran was part of Chhapra, Lalu was elected as an MP from the Chhapra seat four times since 1977.

It has been a traditional Yadav bastion, but Rajiv Rudy defeated Lalu's wife Rabri Devi in 2014. The BJP MP won the seat again in 2019 against Chandrika Roy of the RJD.

Apart from Rudy, several other prominent faces from BJP including Ravi Shankar Prasad, Giriraj Singh, Nityanad Rai and Sanjay Jaiswal have won the Lok Sabha elections.

Meanwhile, in Bihar, Nitish Kumar's JD(U) is leading in 15 out of 40 seats, while its ally Bhartiya Janata Party is leading on 13 seats.

The opposition alliance is leading in six seats in the state with Lalu Prasad Yadav's RJD leading in 3 seats, CPI(ML) in 2 and Congress one.
