Lok Sabha Election 2024 Phase 2: The second phase of the Lok Sabha elections is scheduled to be held in 12 states and 1 Union Territory on April 26. As many as 89 constituencies will go to polls in the Phase 2. Polling will be over in all the 20 seats of Kerala and 25 seats of Rajasthan. Earlier, Rajasthan decided the fate of candidates on 12 seats in the first phase held on April 19. Rahul Gandhi's Wayanad seat is among those up for grabs.
The states/Union Territory that will vote in the Lok Sabha Election 2024 Phase 2 on April 26 are Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Rajasthan, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal. The last date for filing the nominations for the second phase of polling was April 4. Moreover, 13 assembly segments under the Outer Manipur Lok Sabha seat — Chingai, Jiribam, Karong, Mao, Nungba, Phungyar, Tadubi, Tamei, Tamenglong, Tengnoupal, Thanlon, Tipaimukh, Ukhrul — will also vote. The voting was split in the Lok Sabha constituency, an unprecedented move by the Election Commission, due to the prolonged ethnic violence.

Among the 89 seats up for grabs in the second phase of the Lok Sabha polls, there are some key constituencies which could be crucial for the ruling BJP as well as the Opposition. The key seats going to polls in the second phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 on April 26 are Karimganj, Nawgong, and Silchar from Assam; Bhagalpur, Katihar, Kishanganj, and Purnia from Bihar; Rajnandangaon from Chhattisgarh; Bangalore Rural, Bangalore North, Bangalore Central, Bangalore South, Mysore, and Mandya from Karnataka; Wayanad, Thrissur, Thiruvananthapuram, and Vadakara from Kerala; Jammu; Darjeeling from Bengal; Jodhpur and Kota from Rajasthan; Amravati and Nanded from Maharashtra; Mathura, Meerut, and Ghaziabad from UP.

For many of these candidates, these electoral battles will be for their personal or party prestige and it will be interesting to see how the fights pan out after the intense campaigns. The campaigning for phase 2 of the Lok Sabha elections is slated to end on Wednesday.
Lok Sabha Elections Phase 2 Snapshot
In 2019, the BJP won 52 of the 89 seats going to polls in the second phase, while its allies won 10. Jammu will go to polls for the first time after the abrogation of Article 370. The Congress won 15 seats in Kerala, but the BJP drew a blank in the state in 2019.
As many as 1,206 candidates from 12 states and UTs and 4 candidates from the Outer Manipur constituency will be in the fray to contest phase 2 of Lok Sabha Elections 2024. The maximum nominations were received in Kerala (500). As many as 1.68 crore voters are eligible to cast their ballots in the second phase. Two Hindi film industry actors — Hema Malini (Mathura) and Arun Govil (Meerut) — will be in the fray. Both are from the BJP. While this will be Hema Malini's third electoral fight, this will be Arun Govil's debut.
The second phase of the Lok Sabha elections will begin at 7 AM on Friday, April 26, and end at 6 PM.
The third phase of the Lok Sabha elections will be held on May 7.
