Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended a mega roadshow in north Bengaluru on Saturday, capping off a busy day of electioneering for the BJP in poll-bound Karnataka. After addressing his third public meeting in the state, Modi flew into the city from Kudachi in the Belagavi district in northern Karnataka around 5 pm in a specially designed vehicle. Modi was accompanied by Bangalore North MP D V Sadananda Gowda and BJP MLC C Narayanaswamy, who was wearing a saffron cap.
A large crowd gathered on both sides of the road to see the Prime Minister and shower him with flowers.
The road was festooned with BJP flags, festoons, and posters, and a group of artists performed a popular drum dance called 'Dollu Kunita' en route to the roadshow.
The 5.3-kilometer-long roadshow will pass through several neighbourhoods in north Bengaluru, including Magadi Road, Nice Road Junction, and Sumanahalli.
The roadshow caused traffic jams. People were advised by police to avoid certain roads where the Prime Minister's convoy would pass. Extensive security arrangements were made along the route of Modi's roadshow.
Modi arrived in Bidar in the morning after flying in from Delhi. He spoke at public meetings in Humnabad, Bidar, Vijayapura, and Kudachi, Belagavi district.
The Prime Minister will spend the night in Bengaluru on Saturday before departing from Raj Bhavan on Sunday morning for public meetings in Kolar, Channapatna in Ramanagara district, and Belur in Hassan district.
He will also hold a roadshow in Mysuru on Sunday before returning to Delhi.
Karnataka goes to the polls on May 10, with the results announced on May 13.
