Chambi Puranik, Political Analyst It is slowly revealing that Congress and JDS are fighting neck-and-neck in this triangular contest, which has high stakes for both national parties! If voters don't give a simple majority to the BJP, then it has a lot of implications for its 2024 Loksabha Elections too!? But it is too premature to predict or see clear trends, as Exit Polls are not Exact Polls, as we have to be cautious/patient to give our views on the likely results. But BJP is facing a serious anti-incumbency threat, as Congress has gone head-on, by taking up the issue of the 40 per cent commission and the kind of development and problems faced by the Common people a) Prices b) infrastructure and welfare schemes not being delivered, as promised by the BJP c) Also the treatment meted out to minorities on issues of Hijab, Azaan, lynching, and fear-syndrome, etc, to keep minority votes as their vote-bank, apart from recent incidents of huge cash found in the house of Madal Virupakshappa, a BJP MLA & his son taking bribe in his office, where his father was the Chairman of the Paints Nigam, which has proved that corruption is huge under the BJP government. But the BJP did not counter the Congress Party propaganda like Pay-CM & Contractor's Association writing to the President.

The counting process commenced at 8 am across 36 centres throughout the state. Election officials anticipate a clearer picture of the results to emerge by mid-day.
