AAP's winning candidate from the Doda Assembly seat, Mehraj Malik said: "... I wanted to ensure people get justice, but I wasn't strong enough and didn't have influence... It took me 15 years to reach where I am today... Now I will work on people's issues... Now I want people to cooperate... I want people to report their problems to me so I can work on them... I will work against corruption..."
Prime Minister Modi congratulated the Congress-NC alliance on winning majority in the Jammu Kashmir assembly elections.
Addressing the BJP workers at party headquarters in New Delhi, PM Modi said: "Following decades of wait in Jammu and Kashmir, elections were peacefully held there. This is a victory of India's Constitution and democracy. The people of Jammu and Kashmir have given more seats to the National Conference and their alliance, and I would like to congratulate them as well. But if you look at the vote percentage, then BJP has emerged as the largest party among all those who contested the polls."
On the successful conduct of the J&K assembly elections, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said: "Democracy should be celebrated (in J&K). After the abrogation of Article 370, the situation has changed. There was a stone-pelting industry. Now, there is tourism and civil aviation... It is historical."
Referring to Congress's allegations regarding the EVM's functioning, Puri asked: "If the EVM is not working then how did it work in J&K? They are finding faults after losing... They are bad losers. First, they lowered the political discourse..."

BJP election in-charge for J&K Assembly elections, Ram Madhav said: "It is a successful day for the BJP. On one hand, our party has registered a win in Haryana and in J&K, we won almost all seats in Jammu... As far as forming the government is concerned, the numbers are in favour of NC and Congress. We congratulate NC and the Congress has piggybacked them. Congress has been completely rejected... The numbers are in their (NC-Congress) favour and we congratulate them..."

The Congress-NC alliance has secured a majority in Jammu Kashmir after securing 48 seats. Omar Abdullah is all set to become the chief minister once again, as announced by National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah.
Awami Ittehad Party candidate and Engineer Rashid's brother, Khursheed Ahmad Sheikh, expressed happiness after winning the Langate seat.
"It's a great feeling; whether you win by just one vote or with 50,000, a win is a win. It is a great victory considering the current circumstances," he said.
So far, the Congress-NC alliance has won 47 seats and is leading on another seat (Uri), while the BJP is trailing with 29 seats.
AAP Candidate Mehraj Malik won the Doda seat in the Jammu Kashmir Assembly elections. With his win, the party secured its first-ever victory in the Union Territory. After the historic win, AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal spoke to Malik and congratulated him.
BJP's Bharat Bhushan won the Kathua seat by a margin of 12117 votes. He secured 45944 votes against BSP's Sandeep Majotra, NC's Subash Chander, and PDP's Sudesh Kumar.
Congress has won six seats in the Jammu Kashmir Assembly polls, the counting for which is still underway. These seats include Wagoora-Kreeri, Central Shalteng, Bandipora, Dooru, Rajouri, and Anantnag.
Independents on the other hand have won Chhamb, Thannamandi, Langate, Shopian, Inderwal, Bani, and Surankote.
Jammu & Kashmir National Conference has won 40 seats so far and is leading on two seats, including Uri and Devsar.
BJP is leading on three seats (Bhadarwah, Reasi, and Samba), while it attained victory in 26 other seats in the Jammu Kashmir Assembly polls.

Aam Aadmi Party secured its maiden win in Jammu and Kashmir as its candidate Mehraj Malik won from the Doda seat with 23228 votes. He won with a margin of 4538 votes, leaving BJP's Gajay Singh Rana and JKNC's Khalid Najib Suharwardy trailing.

Independent candidates Shabir Ahmad Kullay, Payare Lal Sharma, Rameshwar Singh, and Choudhary Mohammed Akram won the elections from Shopian, Inderwal, Bani, and Surankote, respectively.
JKNC vice president Omar Abdullah has won one of the two constituencies he was contesting. Defeating PDP's Syed Agar Muntazir Mehdi, Abdullah won the Budgam seat and will be the next Chief Minister, announced NC supremo Farooq Abdullah.

BJP's candidate from Kishtwar, Shagun Parihar — whose father Ajit Parihar and uncle Anil Parihar were shot dead by terrorists in November 2018 — won the seat defeating NC's Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo.
People's Conference chief Sajad Gani Lone was in celebratory mode as he maintained a lead from the Handwara seat. However, NC's Chowdhry Mohammad Ramzan is close behind Lone with a very slim margin of 785 votes.
"...It's a massive victory. We have won...I will appeal to the Centre to stop experimenting...I think they should give statehood and let the people of this region live in peace...We will work for development," Lone said.
BJP's Gharum Ram wins the Suchetgarh (SC) seat with 39,302 votes.
Independent candidates Pyare Lal Sharma and Choudhary Mohammed Akram have won the Inderwal and Surankote(ST) seats. Sharma secured 14,195 votes while Akram won with 34,201 votes.
People's Democratic Party opens its account as Waheed Ur Rahma Para wins the Pulwama seat with 24,716 seats. Para defeated NC's Mohammad Khalil Band
BJP candidate Satish Kumar Sharma wins Billawar seat under Kathua district winning 44,629 votes. Sharma defeated Congress's Manohar Lal Sharma by a margin of 21,368 votes.
Jammu and Kashmir National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah displayed a show of strength as he greeted his supporters in Srinagar amid counting of votes. The Congress-NC gained a comfortable lead in the trends by the Election Commission of India.
Arvind Gupta from BJP won Jammu West consituency with 41,963 votes defeating Congress's Manmohan Singh by a vote margin of 22,127.
The saffron party also won the Chenani seat under Udhampur district. Balwant Singh Mankotia defeated J&K National Panthers Party (India) candidate Harsh Dev Singh by 15,611 votes.
JKNC's Salman Sagar won the Hazratbal seat defeating PDP's Asiea Naqash by a vote margin of 10,295 seats. Sagar won 18,890 votes.
In Zadibal, JKNC's Tanvir Sadiq won 22189 defeating PDP's Abid Hussain Ansari by a margin of 16,173 votes.
BJP's Ranbir Singh Pathania won the Udhampur East seat securing 32,996 votes. Finishing second was Independent candidate Pawan Khajuria losing by a vote margin of 2,349 votes.
JKNC candidate Nazir Ahmad Khan has won the Gurez(ST) seat with 8,378 votes. Against him in the race was BJP's Faqeer Mohammad Khan who lost by a margin of 1,132 votes, as per the ECI. Following his victory, Khan said: "I want to thank people who worked hard...I had no money or resources...this defeat is of PM Modi not just of BJP."
BJP's Darshan Kumar won the Basohli assembly seat in Kathua district with 31,874 votes defeating Congress's Ch. Lal Singh by a vote margin of 16,034, according to Election Commission of India.
The BJP is still hopeful of a "big turnaround" in Jammu and Kashmir as the Congress-NC alliance leads on 51 seats, as per EC trends. "The results are yet to be announced, BJP will give a strong government to the public of Jammu and Kashmir. As many as 10-12 rounds of counting is to be done on several seats, and there will be big turnarounds. But, on seats where we are ahead, we have taken decisive lead...," said J&K BJP co-in charge Ashish Sood.
People's Democratic Party leader and candidate from Bijbehara seat, Iltija Mufti conceded defeat after she trailing from the seat.
"I accept the verdict of the people. The love & affection I received from everyone in Bijbehara will always stay with me. Gratitude to my PDP workers who worked so hard throughout this campaign," she said in a post on X.
JKNC candidate Bashir Ahmad Shah Veeri is leading in the constituency 19,332 after seven of 12 rounds of voting.
Jammu and Kashmir Congress chief Tariq Hameed Karra is leading from Srinagar's Central Shalteng seat by over 8,000 seats. After seven of 13 rounds of counting, Karra has garnered 12,352 votes, followed by Independent candidate Noor Mohammad Sheikh far behind at 3,594 votes.
In Budgam also, the former CM has maintained a comfortable lead with a vote margin of 6,045 votes against PDP's Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi.
J&K BJP unit chief Ravinder Raina is trailing from his Nowshera seat, from where he was elected as MLA in 2014.
NC's Surinder Kumar Choudhary has gained lead with 11,412 vote margin against Raina after five of 10 rounds of couting.
Congress candidate from Tral, Surinder Singh Channi said, "The early trends from J&K and Haryana are showing that Congress is leading in the assembly elections. The public of J&K have expressed their anger by voting in large numbers against the BJP and have decided to vote for the JKNC-Congress alliance"
Celebrations began outside National Conference leader Omar Abdullah's residence in Srinagar as Congress-NC alliance gained a decisive lead in the trends by the Election Commission. As per the EC, INDIA bloc is ahead of 47 seats followed by BJP on 28 seats.
Omar Abdullah is also leading on both seats he is contesting, Ganderbal and Budgam, according to the EC trend.
Bharatiya Janata Party is confident of sweeping the Jammu region and gaining support in Kashmir valley by "like-minded" entities. "We will sweep the Jammu region," said party spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi.

JKNC candidate from Ganderbal and Budgam Omar Abdullah is consistently expressing his emotions on his X account. As he maintained the lead on both seats, Abdullah shared his photo, captioning: "Counting day 7K done. Last time around it didn’t end well for me personally...InshaAllah this time around it will be better," he said.
Omar Abdullah is ahead in the Budgam seat against PDP's Syed Aga Muntazir Mehdi. With three rounds of counting completed, Omar has garnered 7417 votes while Mehdi got 3,854 votes.
However, in Ganderbal, Omar is leading with a slim margin of 1,479 votes against PDP's Bashir Ahmed Mir after two rounds of counting.
Ghulam Nabi Azad's Democratic Progressive Azad Party, which is contesting it debut polls in Jammu and Kashmir, has gained lead on Doda seat. Abdul Majid Wani is ahead of Aam Aadmi Party's Mehraj Malik by a razor thin margin of 451 votes.

Baramulla Lok Sabha MP and Awami Ittehad Party chief Engineer Rashid says his party's priority is not forming the government in Jammu and Kashmir but to work for people's aspirations.
Srinagar Deputy Commissioner Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat said all the arrangements are complete for the counting of votes. "We are here at SKICC (Sheri-Kashmir International Conference Centre). Counting of votes for the 8 assembly segments in Srinagar will begin at 8 am. We will begin with the counting of postal ballots, as per the EC guidelines. From 8.30 am, the counting of votes through EVMs will also begin. All arrangements are complete...," he said.
The Jammu Kashmir elections 2024 marked a significant departure from militancy and separatism as former militants, separatist leaders and members of the banned Jamaat-e-Islami outfit contested the elections. Five former militants, four separatist leaders and ten candidates from the banned Jamaat-e-Islami outfit were in the poll fray this year.
Usman Majeed (Bandipora), Gulzar Ahmad Dar (Damhal Hanji Pora), Saif-ud-din Bhat (Khansahib), Mohammad Farooq Khan, Sheikh Fida Hussain (Devsar), Mohammad Ashraf Hajam, and Engineer Rashid's Awami Ittehad Party are contesting the elections.

Rajouri Senior Superintendent of Police Randeep Kumar said that foolproof security arrangements have been made in place for the counting of votes.
"...We have made all efforts to have foolproof security arrangements, we have made all efforts to ensure that nobody faces any inconvenience," the SSP told ANI.
"Only those with issued ID cards are being allowed after checking... Police force and paramilitary force are alert and we have made proper arrangements for security. Counting process will conclude peacefully...All our surveillance equipment are working...All teams are alert," he added.
Congress leader Ghulam Ahmad Mir exuded confidence in the alliance with National Conference saying the result would be in favour of them.
"As per the local trends we are receiving from Anantnag and Kashmir, the result would be in favour of the Congress-NC alliance and other like-minded parties. However, these are early trends, this will get more clear with time. BJP has no scope to form the government,” Mir told PTI.
Jammu Kashmir National Conference leader and party candidate from Ganderbal and Budgam, Omar Abdullah is all "nerves" as he fights a battle to save the prestige of the Abdullah family in the valley. On the eve of counting, Abdullah shared a GIF of an anxious Spongebob saying: "By this time tomorrow it will all be clear. Now if only I could go to sleep & wake up 24 hours later I’d be a happy person. Nerves!!!!"
The Ganderbal seat has been an Abdullah family stronghold once represented by his grandfather Sheikh Abdullah, father Farooq Abdullah and himself.
With counting set to begin in the next one hour, he wished best for colleagues and allies. "We fought the good fight & now, InshaAllah, the results will reflect that," he said.
Robust security arrangements have been made for the counting of votes at all district headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir. A three-tier security system has been put in place to ensure free and fair counting of votes at all the 20 counting centres across Jammu and Kashmir "Only authorized counting agents of the contesting candidates and staff posted on counting duty will be allowed inside the counting halls," the officials told PTI.
Jammu and Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party unit chief Ravinder Raina performed havan ahead of counting of votes. Raina is eyeing to retain his Nowshera seat. Against him in the fray are Surinder Chowdary from the National Conference (JKNC), and Haq Nawaz from the PDP, alongside several independent candidates.
In the last assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir in 2014, no single party was able to get past the halfway mark bringing People's Democratic Party and Bharatiya Janata Party together in a post-poll alliance. Here's how the parties performed in 2014.

Most of the exit polls have shown a lead for the Congress-National Conference alliance in Jammu and Kashmir with a predicted seat range between 35 to 50 while the PDP is expected to get 4 to 12 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party is likely to get 20 to 32 seats, while the others are expected to get as many as 18 seats.

Jammu Kashmir Election Results: Couting Begins At 8 AM
The elections to the 90-member Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly were held in three phases on September 18, September 25, and October 1 with a voter turnout of 63.45 per cent. This marks a significant rise from the Lok Sabha elections where the footfall was clocked at 58.58 per cent. However, the polling percentage was less than the 65.52 per cent recorded in the 2014 assembly elections.
The counting began at 8 am and wrap up by 6 pm later in the day under stringer security cover. A three-tier security system has been put in place at all the 20 counting centres across Jammu and Kashmir where the votes will be counted, said an official of the Election Commission of India, reported PTI.
Jammu Kashmir Election Results: A High-Stakes Battle
The high-stakes battle will have 873 candidates testing their electoral fate including bigwigs like National Conference's Omar Abdullah contesting from Budgam and Ganderbal segments; Sajad Gani Lone of People's Conference who entered the fray from Handwara and Kupwara seats; Pradesh Congress Committee president Tariq Hamid Karra, a candidate from Batamaloo seat; and BJP state president Ravindra Raina, who is contesting from Nowshera seat.
State Congress general secretary Ghulam Ahmad Mir (Dooru), PDP leaders Waheed Para (Pulwama), Iltija Mufti (Bijbehara), Apni Party president Altaf Bukhari (Chanapora), CPI(M) veteran Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami (Kulgam) and former deputy chief ministers Muzaffar Hussain Baig and Tara Chand are some of the other key candidates in the race.
