The DMK announced the setting up of a committee on Friday to hold seat-sharing talks with alliance parties including Congress for Lok Sabha polls scheduled for April-May. The seat-sharing talks committee will be headed by senior leader TR Baalu. The party also announced another committee for creating a manifesto for the party ahead of the upcoming polls.

  


According to PTI, the DMK, a key component of the opposition I.N.D.I.A bloc, announced three committees. One is for holding seat-sharing talks while the other is tasked with coordinating the party's activities related to the polls. Another committee is designated for crafting the election manifesto. 


Duraimurugan, the General Secretary of the party, announced that the committee headed by party Treasurer Baalu will include KN Nehru (principal party secretary), I Periyasamy (deputy general secretary), K Ponmudi (former minister), A Raja (MP and party's deputy general secretary), and MRK Panneerselvam (member of the party's high-level panel).


Nehru, Periyasamy, and Panneerselvam also hold ministerial positions, and Ponmudi is a former minister.


The committee responsible for formulating the Lok Sabha election manifesto will be led by Lok Sabha member and party Deputy General Secretary Kanimozhi Karunanidhi.


This committee, consisting of ten members, will include Ministers PTR Palanivel Thiagarajan, TRB Rajaa, and Chennai Mayor R Priya, among others.


The 5-member committee assigned to coordinate the party's poll-related activities comprises K N Nehru, senior leader R S Bharati, and Ministers E V Velu, Thangam Thennarasu, and Udhayanidhi Stalin.


The DMK's coalition partners include the Congress, the Left parties, Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK), and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK). MK Stalin has always set 40 out of 40 seats target for DMK for Lok Sabha Polls 2024. Earlier, TN CM also pitched for Rahul Gandhi as PM.
