'Jalebi', a popular Indian sweet, was one of the most trending words on social media on Tuesday as assembly election results were declared in two key Indian states of Jammu and Kashmir, and Haryana.
The coiled sweet became a talking point when Haryana Congress leader Deepender Singh Hooda made Rahul Gandhi taste Maturam's Jalebi during a poll rally in the state. Rahul said it was the best jalebi that he had eaten in his life. He said that everyone should be able to have these jalebis and these needed to be produced in a factory at an industrial scale.
Now, the Haryana BJP has sent 1 kg jalebis for Rahul at the Congress office in New Delhi. The BJP shared a screenshot of the order it placed.
"On behalf of all the workers of Bhartiya Janta Party Haryana, jalebi has been sent to Rahul Gandhi's home," the party wrote on X.
"I tasted jalebi in the car and sent a message to my sister Priyanka that today I have eaten the best jalebi of my life. I am bringing a box of jalebi for you too," Rahul had said. He further said that he had told the Haryana Congress leaders that the jalebis of Gohana should reach all corners of India and the world.
"If this jalebi goes to the country and abroad, then perhaps their shop will turn into a factory and thousands of people will get employment," he added.
BJP came to power for the third consecutive time, marking a rare political hat-trick in the state after clinching a decisive victory in the Haryana Assembly elections, the results of which were declared on Tuesday.
