Himanshu Vyas joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday, only hours after quitting as secretary and in-charge of Overseas Congress from the All India Congress Committee (AICC) and the party's primary membership, news agency ANI reported. 






Himanshu Vyas, the secretary and in charge of the Overseas Congress, resigned from his role and the party's membership earlier in the day.


"I hereby resign as secretary of the All India Congress Committee and in charge of Overseas Congress," he stated in a letter to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. "



On Friday, Congress released its first list of 43 candidates for the Gujarat Assembly elections.

Former Gujarat Congress head Arjun Modhwadiya has been fielded from Porbandar, Himanshu Patel from Gandhinagar South, and Hiteshbhai Vora from Rajkot South, according to the list released.


The Congress is attempting to depose the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from office in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's home state of Gujarat, where the saffron party has been in power for more than two decades.


The 182-member Gujarat Assembly will be held in two phases next month, on December 1 and 5. The votes will be counted on December 8. According to the news agency PTI, at least 7.13 lakh people have been added to the voters' list in Gujarat in the previous five years, accounting for 1.47 percent of the total number of electors in the state.
