New Delhi: Former Kerala Chief Minister and a communist veteran Achuthanandan, on Monday attacked Congress President Rahul Gandhi over his decision of contesting elections from Wayand Lok Sabha constituency. Terming the move as an immature one, Achuthanandan called Gandhi an “Amul baby”, repeating the jibe he made in the year 2011 after which he had entered a war of words with Gandhi.

The politics in the South is heated up after Congress’ announcement about Rahul Gandhi’s candidature from geographically significant Wayand seat. The Left front is clearly miffed at the Congress which has decided to field Gandhi in South. The leaders of the Left have vehemently criticised the move saying it reflected that Congress’ fight was against the Left.

In a Facebook post in Malyalam, he wrote that it was not without reason that he dubbed Gandhi an 'Amul baby' in April 2011.

“I called Rahul Gandhi 'Amul Baby' earlier, because of his attitude of approaching situations without understanding them. What will happen in Wayanad if Rahul comes? Left parties will fight against Rahul and BJP,” he said in the post.

“But what will be the condition of Congress? Their argument that BJP is their main enemy will be proved wrong. That's why I called him 'Amul Baby' which is relevant now also” he said.

"Today, when he (Gandhi) is reaching middle age, his childishness continues at a time when the country is facing the biggest problem of the menacing BJP. The need of the hour is to fight them”, the post read.

Gandhi will be contesting the Lok Sabha polls from Wayanad in Kerala,  apart from Amethi in Uttar Pradesh. He will file his nomination from Wayanad on Thursday.
