New Delhi: In the 18th Lok Sabha elections of India, Delhi's seven constituencies witnessed fierce war of votes between its candidates. The tussle for seats in the national capital was mainly between the BJP and I.N.D.I.A alliance's fielders, AAP and Congress.
North East Delhi, New Delhi, South Delhi, North West Delhi, East Delhi, Chandni Chowk and West Delhi, were the seven constituencies that elected their representatives in the Lok Sabha, amid a series of political melodramatic events, including the arrest of Arvind Kejrival, the Chief Minister.
Moreover, BJP’s Manoj Tiwari and Praveen Khandelwal, while Congress’ Kanhaiya Kumar and Jai Prakash Agarwal were some of the most significant faces contesting in the elections.
Notably, the AAP and Congress joined forces to challenge the ruling BJP, yet exit polls suggest the saffron party is poised for another victory in Delhi’s Lok Sabha elections. Exit polls anticipate a repetition of the 2019 scenario, with the BJP expected to secure around 50% to 56% of the vote share.
While Delhi CM Kejriwal's arrest and subsequent release on interim bail became the focal point of AAP’s campaign, the BJP maintained a strong emphasis on allegations of corruption within Kejriwal’s government, highlighting the Centre’s role in Delhi’s development.
Meanwhile, Congress focused on linking its national ‘Nyay guarantees’ with local issues, while also leveraging its common voter base shared with its ally, AAP.
